I made up my mind
Fist let me say that I am not a celebrity, politician, rich, or anyone famous. I am a veteran of the Vietnam era. I am a small businessman who is trying to get by as best as I can with the high prices of fuel, the rising cost of food, and just about everything else a person needs to survive. I am a husband and a father who wants the best for my children, and someday my grandchildren. I am so tired of what we have gone through in the last 7 plus years with Bush and Cheney, and I want change, real change!

I supported John Edwards, and still believe he would have made the "best" nominee, and the best president for 2008. I felt that he would do his best to give us the change we need in this country, and would help the "people" instead of the corporate "cartel" who seem to run everything since Bush took office. I took it hard when he left the race, and pretty much stopped posting on this board, and others, because I felt that it made no difference which one of the reamining two got the nomination, they were both the same!

Well I was wrong! Over that time since John Edwards left, I have watched the debates, listened to the speaches, and all the news on both Hillary and Obama. I didn't believe I could come out and support either of them, but as I said, I was wrong. We "really" need a change in this country, and we need to get the people involved. We need to get people out to vote, we need to stop all the "hate" and anger and work to get this country back on the right path once again. John Edwards would have done that, but since he is not in the picture any longer, I feel that the only one of the remaining candidates who will do these things, who will give us the best chance at accomplishing the things I have mentioned, is "OBAMA"!

Now I know some here will say I am falling into the "cult", that I have been brainwashed, etc. I also know that no matter what I say, they will not change their mind on that, and so be it. It makes no differnce to me. I know the reasons I now support Obama, and I know the reasons why I can "NOT" support Hillary Clinton, and after all, isn't the whole idea, that we come to terms with ourselves as to who we will support?

Now I know this will not sway anyone, nor will it make a diffrence at all in the outcome of this election. However it does give my hope that things will change, and that the future will be better for my family, and especially my children. I have two children, a 17 year old daughter, and a 14 year old son. I want more for them than the same old things. The same politics in D.C., the same divided country, the same hate for those who don't think the same, the same fear mongering in order to get elected, and the same lack of concern for the ones who really matter in this country, the ones who really need help, the "PEOPLE" of this great country!

I see a lot of anger on this site, and on others, and I hope that when this is all over we can all come together for the good of this country and put and end to the anger and hate so we can rebuild the mess that Bush has put us in, both in our country, and around the world.

So that's it, I made up my mind, I endorse Barack Obama, and even though it means nothing in the big picture, it has made me feel better inside, and given me the hope this whole country needs, that we do have a chance to come together again!

9. Andy, that's the conclusion I reached, too.
Edited on Sun Mar-02-08 03:41 PM by Kajsa
It took me a while to come out of the shock of Edwards stepping down.

I was lost for a while, but then reached the same decision you describe above.

Obama has my vote.

Thanks for posting this.

12. Progressives like Feingold, Leahy and Kennedy in the Senate...
... and Conyers, Schakowsky and other Progressives in Congress,
shows that he will be pushed and pulled in the right direction!

The agenda in 04 was: 1st get rid of the Republicans
2nd get rid of the DLC

Perhaps in 08 we can achieve both aims in one fell swoop?

Well, I can HOPE!

13. I will always be "Edwards-ian" (primarily because of the value that he gives to Unions), but
Edited on Sun Mar-02-08 03:55 PM by patrice
I am now supporting Obama, after much reading, listening, thought, and discussion, because the difference between him and Hillary is mainly the extent to which "The People" will be allowed, and even encouraged, to enter the halls of power and to create REAL Change there.

"Our" candidates are only 50%, or less, of what happens. Whether the People will heed this call to action or not is partly their own responsibility and partly the extent to which others motivate, encourage and allow them to do so. A candidate who succeeds by other than conventional means (i.e. something other than politics as usual) is going to be more open and more thorough in empowering the people; this is why I support JE and why I am now supporting Obama.

16. I agree
For the people to really get involved they need someone they can believe and who will empower them to take action. I now feel Obama is the best candidate for that, now that Edwards is no longer in the race. If we the people don't get involved, then we the people will not have a say. The people need a real leader, not more of the same old thing.

I too will always be an "Edwards-ian" at heart! :applause:

17. Andy, it's the same here. Our family
supported Edwards. We have discussed what we would do come Tuesday..and after much talking and thinking, researching and talking some more, we're decided that Obama will receive our votes.
