Much hash has been flung over the picture of Obama without hand over heart. This picture is sure to break some right-wingers hearts as it takes the umphf out of their arguement....

anthem was played. What is this shit hand over the heart stuff? I can remember when we just stood. Obama is honoring the flag by standing, just as HIS grandpa taught him.

need to put one thread together to counter any and all of the stupid 'smears' on Obama. This pic for the whole 'unpatriotic' thing, the pics of other leaders dressed in foreign clothing, what the name "Hussein" means and that he is named after his father, etc. I don't mean just here at DU *for* DU, but a resource for people to use to defend him in other places.

Anyone up to this? I would like to do it or help but I'm at work right now, it's just an idea.

stand with right hand over heart, but always in teh direction of the flag and if no flag towards the band, and if no band the music, but there is nothing in the r&r that tells one to stand with ones hands clasped. This is not correct and obama was wrong in doing this....but Richardson was wrong too and I have no idea what the hell he was looking at...

58. When I was a kid,
we always stood up for the National Anthem, but we never put our hands on our hearts. We did when we recited the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. I too stood up at home and on the seats in Movie theaters when I was little, and couldn't see the Flag on the screen because of the "big people" in front of me!!! Now it seems that Military and vets Salute the flag. I don't know when the hands on hearts started!????

I support Hillary, but I think the hand-over-heart/lapel button flap is just silly.

Oh, and then there's this:

Rep. Jack Kingston (R-GA) has always been one of my favorite buffoons in Congress. No one trick pony, he's been putting in long moron hours for years up on the Hill and on the chat shows. But it was a particular tour de force even for Jack when he showed up last night on MSNBC to bash Barack Obama for not wearing a flag lapel ... without remembering to wear one himself ...
