CNN's John King: "Essentially Bush was asleep at the Switch" on Al Qaeda
Edited on Wed Mar-24-04 07:47 AM by seventhson
he was citing Clarke, but he was confronting Andrew Card who was trying to weasel out of the charges and blaming Clarke.

To hear John King say "Bush was asleep at the switch" is SO relieving.

The media is finally, like the pack of dogs they are, circling Bush.

The Rove attack dogs cannot overwhelm the rabid media when it smells the blood of Caesar.

Bush is looking more and more like a baked potato.

Stick a fork in him: looks like he's done (politically, that is).

1. I wish it were so
But the attention span of the media and unfortunately the public is so short. This story may be forgotten by the end of April.

Then, Joe Wilson's book which will name names of who
he thinks outed his wife.

Bush is in for a bumpy spring.

20. Don't forget Joe Wilson's book in May
Wilson will nail the bushbots for lying about the Niger uranium and then outing his wife to punish him for blowing the whistle on the lie. Should be highly entertaining. The drip, drip, drip, is turning into a gusher of negative blowback on *.

4. That is one reason I posted it. For John King to say
Bush was asleep at the switch

is a red letter day

and we should repeat it over and over and over so that NO ONE forgets.

(Actually I believe the Bush Band of Vampires was AT the switch - but that is another story)

5. Bush will continually try to change the subject and he has the bully
pulpit and advertising dollar. The new liberal radio network is gonna be a big boost.

6. As I've Said Before...
...along with many much more elequent DU'ers, don't be folled. We have to go through this election with the expectation that bush WILL have the media in his pocket. Maybe some are waking up, but the vast majority will continue to fawn and worship.

Our word of mouth will be a key!

8. Good point, Marian!
One advantage we haver is we have no profit motive.

We advocate for free and we reach tens of thousands. The more we repeat the memes which work the more will hear them and understand.

12. Thanx!
We have to, in my opinion, advocate not only here, but in public too! I LOVE pissing off right wingers. Especially the fundies when they realize that this Roman Catholic/Christian Liberal Democrat knows the Bible better than they do!

9. Instead of Lihop or Mihop
could it be that the BFEE is trying for Lihoos (Let It Happen Out Of Stupidity)?. I think in the end it's their only option. Any of the three means Dumba is burned toast. Attacking the messengers will not sell with most of America imho.

:)

But dealing with ignorant Americans on a dialy makes it harder to have faith in that fact.

One can only hope that the Inde's don't vote for Nader-he once again may have an impact.

15. Please stop underestimating the corruption of the media, & the power
of the Right. You ought to have learned by now that while the Busheviks can be thrown on the defensive for a few days, these episodes have a way of vanishing into thin air, shortly thereafter.

The media is owned by the rightwing. This is not going to change. They are not going to allow Bush to go down, unless they calculate that he is more of a liability to them than an ally. They are nowhere near that point, as yet.

21. I wouldn't go that far. King's a whore like the rest. He's ticked, though.
King has been getting visiblly pissed off at the WH briefings. You can see the steam start coming out of his collar about the 4th round of repeats of the same talking points.

The thing that Ari did well in handling the press that McClellan does poorly is the way he insults the intelligence of the reporters. Ari would only restate the talking points a couple of times, and then come back with a quick "asked and answered." McClellan goes through the whole list of the days talking points over and over and over as if has was trying to beat the talking points by force into an audience of autistic kids. That's got to get old day after day, and it looks like King is finally sick of the treatment.

24. King is frustrated by the limits on the press from the WH.
He has made it very clear at several press conferences. He doesn't like to back down one little bit.

We need to praise him; it'll make the rest stand up and take notice as well.

We need to prove that there is a market for balanced coverage. Sad as it is, the media will forever be market-driven now.
