Poll question: Does your spouse/significant other support your candidate?
Curious if that's causing as much turmoil on the homefront as it is on this board! There's a danger of taking this too far... did you hear about the Clinton supporter who stabbed the Obama supporter- his brother-in-law!

Can't we all just get along?

http://www.thesmokinggun.com/archive/years/2008/0225081ortiz1.html
FEBRUARY 25--Meet Jose Antonio Ortiz. The Pennsylvania man allegedly stabbed his brother-in-law in the stomach after the pair quarreled about their respective support of Democratic presidential candidates Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. According to cops, Ortiz, 28, stabbed Sean Shurelds last Thursday night in the kitchen of an Upper Providence Township home. According to a criminal complaint, a copy of which you'll find here, the 41-year-old Shurelds, an Obama supporter, told Ortiz that the Illinois senator was "trashing" Clinton (apparently in regard to recent primary and caucus results). Ortiz, a Clinton supporter, replied that "Obama was not a realist." While not exactly fighting words, the verbal political tiff led to some mutual choking and punching. And, allegedly, a stabbing in the abdomen. Ortiz, pictured in the mug shot below, was charged with a felony aggravated assault count and two misdemeanors and jailed in lieu of $20,000 bail. Shurelds was flown to Hahnemann University Hospital, where he was admitted in critical condition.

So, does your partner support the one you do?

2. No, and it's stressful.
If I try to have a passionate defense of Hillary, he pounces on my tone and says, "that's why people don't like Hillary". He will not discuss health care or other issues.

20. Whoa! That sucks.
That must be hugely stressful.

You definitely need a hug.

My husband is a militant Hillary supporter, to the point where if I walk in front of the TV while she's on I'm in big trouble.

5. Yes, absolutely.
My husband was for Edwards, then chose Hillary over Obama just as I did. In fact, I'd say he's even more of a staunch supporter than I am.

23. When we were
both on active duty back in the early 70's (I stayed in and retired, she did one tour) she was senior to me but we were at different commands. Lordy I love to tell our lunatic right wing non military serving neighbors that my wife and I have over 30 years of combined service to our country and never vote for a republican. My wife and I are the only ones on her side of the family (except her WWII hero father) to have ever served in the military and the only democrats. And my wonderful father in law, god rest his soul was a life long democrat. Very telling I believe.

how about the one you love? the one who loves you? Your best friend? The query is how this is affecting the interpersonal dynamic between yourself the one you are close to.

25. Hey, Breeze.....
we could be a "couple" for this poll.

Pssssstt.... For what it's worth, I have no preference (maybe that is why we have been so happy together for such a long time).

So cast your vote.

Tom

... but we both support our candidates for the same reason. He think Clinton has a better shot at winning, while I think Obama has run a flawless campaign and will continue to do so and thus be in the better position to win.
