We've been treated to a litany of "I won't vote for..." "We can't win with..." "I'm tired of holding my nose and voting for..." I'm not compromising my vote.
Let's face facts. No matter who the nominee is, they're bound to disappoint. Why? Because they don't share 100% of the same values you do, or I do, or even their spouse does.
We all need to accept the fact that the only perfect person to be President, is ourself. In my case, the only person that shares ALL of my values and ALL of my principles is ME. Everyone else is bound to disappoint or irritate me on some level.
Since none of us have the time or money to run, we are forced to compromise and vote for the person who comes closest to our values.
For some of us, it would be nice if that candidate were John Edwards (he got my money) or Dennis Kucinich or someone who leaned in their direction, but it didn't happen. The MAJORITY of Democrats voting did not see fit to move in either of their directions.
That being the case, we (not Clinton or Obama supporters -- they're still in it) are forced to go looking for the next best thing -- compromise (that ugly word). For my money, it's neither -- in the primaries. In the general election, it's whoever the majority of the people in the Party choose. If it's Obama, I'm voting for him. If it's Clinton, for her.
You can call that a sell-out, a compromise, whatever.
What it's called is REALITY.
The next President of the United States is going to come from either the Democratic Party or the republikkan party. It's something we all need to accept. There is NO other candidate who will come riding on his/her white charger and enchant the electorate so much that they will blow away the two major parties.
Histrionics and drama-queen antics aside, there REALLY is a CHASM-Sized difference between both Democratic candidates and mclame. Just like there WAS a huge difference between Gore and DUH-bya. Sometimes in life 1/2 a loaf is all you're gonna get and if you don't take it, you get nothing.
That's reality. It sucks and it's not fair. But it's life. If you choose to vote third-party or not vote for OUR nominee (who was chosen by the MAJORITY of voters) then that's what you'll get over the next four years -- NOTHING! Except four more years of bush-like politics.
