Move over Oprah
ABC News' Eloise Harper Reports: Ellen Degeneres appeared via satellite at presidential contender Sen. Hillary Clinton's low-dollar fundraiser in Washington DC, surprising the audience, and perhaps giving Clinton a boost. Clinton was reciting her stump speech to a very young and energetic audience– when the screen behind Clinton turned into a feed of Ellen interrupting and saying she had a few questions.

"What needs to happen to change the momentum?" Ellen asked. Clinton responded, perhaps making a small gaffe or an intended point saying "well were going win Ohio and Michigan!!" Clinton realized her mistake (or was it?) saying "wait, Ohio and Texas…I already won Michigan!"

Ellen referenced the Saturday Night Live skit which illustrated Obama getting lighter media scrutiny than Clinton. ‘"Do you think you are given a harder time than Barack because you are a woman.?" Clinton, clearly agreeing said "Well, nobody has ever asked me if I want an extra pillow during a debate."

Instead of Barack verses Hillary at the next debate, perhaps the talk show powerhouses could duke-it-out for their respective candidates? There's a sure way to have the highested rated debate in history.

THANKS,ELLEN
HILLARY '08

5. You just can't let one little bit of praise go by for Hillary without dumping
Edited on Tue Feb-26-08 01:32 AM by saracat
on any good thread can you? I think thast is pathetic. Not long ago the supporters of Obama were screeching about the moderators. They particularly hated them when Edwards won most Debates.Give it a rest.

10. The CNN anchors were in no way biased towards any candidate.

In fact, why dont you go find a question to show the bias you are accusing them of.

17. if it's an Ellen for Hillary thread, why have you spent half of your posts talking about Oprah/Obama

At any rate, it sounds like a pretty cool surprise for those in the audience. I like Ellen :)

15. Well maybe Oprah's money and corporatism excuses her boomer
status to Oprah. Her "excesses" don't bother him unlike all "those boomer excesses of the 60's and 70's" he so disdains.

24. You know I think Ellen is the funniest woman (besides Lisa Lampanelli) in the world...BUT
If you are going to go on about Oprah's corporatism, then why dont you mention the fact that Ellen was off the air for one day after the strike, and then back the next day.

Edited on Tue Feb-26-08 01:36 AM by saracat
She is now officially the most popular talk so host so she can outdraw Oprah! Maybe she can make gender bias and feminisim issues again.

19. I hope so...
Perhaps Ellen can help Hillary get her message across. I'm not a big believer in these celebrity endorsements but I gather they really can't hurt. We shall see how it develops.

12. Ellen actually had Oprah on her show earlier this past year.
Edited on Tue Feb-26-08 01:36 AM by Jamastiene
There was a big to do about it because Oprah normally doesn't go on other people's talk shows. I wonder who Ellen is endorsing?

Btw, I think Ellen is supposed to show a clip of the exchange in the OP tomorrow on her show. Might want to check your local listings.

27. So what
Clinton appeared on Ellen as the first guest of the new season.

And after today's live-feed, don't take a genius to figure this out. Put your little Obama pics back; no one here is that interested.

So, Hillary just wrapped up her guest stint on Ellen. After beginning the show by professing her love for NYC’s “hot nuts,” and Andy Roddick’s hard abs, Ellen welcomed her first big guest of her new season… Senator Hillary Clinton.
They made cute chit-chat at first, and since Hillary heard Ellen was gonna run for Prez , she brought Ellen a “Campaign Survival Kit” which included: a “Running for President for Dummies” book, some hair product and some hot sauce (which Hillary said “I’m convinced it keeps me healthy”). Then she gave Ellen a “Clinton & DeGeneres 08 T-shirt” which I think might sell very well.

fresh.

22. Ellen had Obama on her show in person. Here they are, bustin' a move.

Was the Hillary interview really an endorsement, or just a way to fill airtime?

Oprah moves over for no one. She paved the way for Ellen. Get it straight. But Ellen is still cool with me despite her support, endorsement or whatever it was that she did today.
