5. The Dems ran a weak candidate
our own Governor Goodhair (eat your heart out, Rick Perry) is a real asshole.

7. When the hell can we get Romney out of power?
William Weld I could understand. He seemed like a decent guy. Romney though is just a sack of shit.

15. He wants to be President someday
so watch for him in 2008.

He really has no power. The Dems run the state. Tom Finneran is the most powerful man in MAss.

6. A completely inept Dem nominee, that's how.
Shannon O'Brien, the stste treasurer, couldn't have sounded more shrill, narrow-minded, repetitive, or arrogant in the campaign.

11. There are three parties in Mass.
1. Machine Democrats

2. Reform Democrats

3. Republicans.

The Machine has been unable to win the Governor's race for over 20 years. Sometimes they successfully nominate a Machine Dem (Shannon O'Brien, John Silber)) but lose. Swing voters won't give the Machine both the legislature and the state house. Sometimes a Reform Dem captures the nomination (Scott Harshburger) and the Machine backstabs their own nominee. Sometimes the Reform Dem wins both the nomination and the election (Dukakis).

Usually, the GOP takes advantage of the Machine/Reform split to take the State House (Sargent, going way back, Weld, Celluci, and Romney).

Kerry, FYI, is a Reform Democrat--screwed by the machine going all the way back to his '72 race for Congress. He fought off heavily-favored Machine candidates for Lt. Governor and US Senate.

HOWEVER, don't the Republicans get any bright ideas about the Machine and Bush. If Kerry wins, every Democrat moves a step up the ladder, as many of the jokes today indicated. Maybe a few of the State Reps will vote for Bush in their secret ballot, but Congressman Lynch is a huge Kerry guy, and Lynch beat the Machine too, in SOUTH BOSTON no less.

27. Lynch is borderline-DINO
I have no doubt he'll vote for Kerry, but I'd much rather have a Machine Democrat if the Machine Democrat is an actual liberal.

14. Addendum
Now that I think of it, it's more like 30 years since the Machine was strong enough to win the state house.

Ed King? Mid-70s? last one I can think of. After that Dukakis, then the current string of Republicans.

10. Yeah, really
Is there some Jackson - Kerry connection I don't know about? If they want to win this election, they'd better come up with some better material than just showing Kerry's picture next to some whack-job.

12. The punchline was--
"Obviously, neither has had cosmetic surgery."

But the later montage of Kerry and Gomer Pyle was meaner ... and funnier!!

18. Because he is the only Republican official in a Dem state
our entire Washington Congressional delegation is Democrat, and the state house is 95% Dem. Romney is playing politics trying to move the Convention to a new Convention center, but Mayor Menino and Tom Finneran-the most powerful politician in Mass-basically told him to f*ck off.

16. Romney is a fool...
but I expect they will continue this tripe for a while. Since they can't go ob bush's record, they need something. I'd sure like to find out Romney had some surgery to ensure his 'manhood' would properly, then again microsurgery is pretty expensive.

But that's all they'll ever be. The guy's a Mormon, and protestant fundies consider Mormonism to be a satanic cult.

Except to make people who are independents feel sorry for Kerry and think that the Republicans are just a bunch of school yard bullies. I hope this one backfires on them big time!
