Looks like it's another second place for DENNIS!
Just received these numbers from Alaska:

With 85% of districts reporting results, delegates to the Alaska Democratic Party’s State Convention are allocated as follows:

John Kerry 47.75%

Dennis Kucinich 25.83%

Uncommitted 12.31%

Howard Dean 11.41%

John Edwards 2.70%

We're steadfastly with you, Dennis!

Hmmm, suppose the contiguous states need to learn something for the newest upstarts? :) ~~chortle~~

Aren't those great numbers? He not quite has more than all the others after him combined, but it's close! I *loved* how that happened in Hawai'i... more than the others combined.

Thanks for all your well-wishes!

Today was a spirit lifter for sure, and you could have come with us to the Mercury afterwards. :)

I applaude you going to the vigil. That will be a hard one.

I cried in the car on the way to the symphony last night, just thinking of what this country has really done. As I said, that vigil will be hard.

Keep in touch.... I really appreciate your support for Dennis! I think we now have an official date for his arrival here, so... I'll let you know about schedules. :)

21. I saw him today on the street in NYC.
I was late for the march and had some errands to do. The barricades kind of forced me to go over to B'way/5th and then uptown to get to the rally.

On my way up 5th Avenue I saw him on the street next to the park. He was getting his photo taken with some supporters. I smiled to myself and thought about hanging out to tell him that I voted for him in the NY primary, but I kept on going.

Still, it was cool to have passed within ten feet of DK and to witness him being so gracious to his supporters a few hours after his speech. At that time it wasn't a long line, but I didn't want to bother him.

Stupid me. I probably missed meeting and thanking William Pitt, too. So, I'll thank them here for being progressives and moving us all forward.

You can't dampen our spirits; they are up because our message is up and supported. They certainly wouldn't be dampened because you don't "get it."

What does each of the votes that reached 26% mean, when Kerry already has enough delegates to get the nomination? They mean that people want Dennis heard. People want the democrats to listen, and expect to be given a place at the table at the convention. People expect peace, universal health care, and social and economic justice to have a place at the convention and in the party's platform.

Thank you, Alaska!

29. Remember, Josh: Kerry is the presumptive nominee because people
were sold the 'electable' line. He's not out in front because people like his policies, but because of the 'electable' drumbeat, the same drumbeat that in reverse sank Clark and Dean, and to a lesser extent, Edwards.

36. I cant believe nobody said anything about THIS:
DK couldve beaten Kerry had he picked up the "unsupported" as well as the some of the Dean and Edwards camp. 26% was a GREAT showing, but imagine what he could do if he can get more media coverage. He is doing exactly what he needs to do as far as campaigning goes. By travelling to so many states (like Alaska) and really telling the truth about job growth and the WTO, IMF, etc he is really getting out the progressive message and energizing the Democratic party. He is also winning delegates = a bigger progressive voice at the convention. GO DENNIS! :yourock:

40. Yes, for example, if all the Dean supporters in MInnesota
had gone with Dennis instead of Edwards, especially if they had known that Edwards would drop out of the race during the time when Minnesota caucuses were in session, that would have been an unambiguous showing for the anti-war forces in MN.

(As it is, we don't know what percentage of Edwards supporters at the caucuses were first-choice Edwards supporters and which ones were originally Dean supporters.)

37. Great news.....
His second place finish in conservative AK, after Sen. Kerry has already sewn up the nomination, leads me to believe that a very substantial number of us are making a statement about the populist direction that the Democratic Party should take now and in the future.

Dennis represents real change in a system that is now epitomizing a popular definition of insanity: Repeating the same mistakes over and over and expecting different results.

50. Has anyone bothered to tell Kerry plenty are voting issues over machismo?
And that running solely on a platform of being a "better architect and enforcer in the made-up war on terror than the man who invented the made-up war on terror" isn't selling with up to half of the Democratic voters (Kerry: 46% in Alaska) and isn't going to sell with plenty of the 80 million who didn't vote in 2000 and may not come out to vote this time around either?

Does Kerry think being Skull & Bones "Lite" is a winning proposition, balancing continued corporate welfare and unilateral warmongering with lipservice to democrat principles?

Just wondering.

There are plenty of people who are holding out for a candidate willing to address the populist issues that only candidate Kucinich is embracing.

And with the answer from the "conservatives in 'centrists' clothing" being down with Nader! Don't they realize they have no choices! I'm really starting to think the 5 million "conservatives" holding the Democratic Party hostage don't really "get it."

I haven't been watching the news lately because of all the depressing war and terrorism coverage, but my mom said Dennis was on for his peace rallying in Alaska. Finally some media attention!

No offense, Revcarol, but I'm selfish and want to keep Dennis in Ohio! :-)

To the people that think Dennis doesn't matter and shouldn't be in the race: What about Cleveland, Ohio's largest Democratic city, does it matter? What about the fact Cleveland has a strong core of DK supporters, large enough that it already has been said that it will affect Ohio's vote? Since Bush can't spell "Cincinnati," and Kerry can't pronounce "Akron," I wouldn't be surprised if they went Nader or "Other." Nice that you're dissing their rep. I'm sure they love that!!

You all might wait on that until our economy gets better. Dennis has the right idea with improving the infrastructure and getting relief funds.

Maybe Dennis could go for Governor? There was a poll a couple months ago that had more Ohioans favoring a Democrat for Governor in 2006 than a Republican. The numbers were something like 45-35. Betty Montgomery is a probable Rep. canidate, but only 32% of Reps polled said they'd support her (they didn't list a Dem.) It's early on, but I think a Dem. will win. Taft is making a mess of things - it's reflecting badly on the Reps. and hopefully that resentment will extend to the national level as well (fingers crossed). Columbus has a semi-liberal mayor, I'd guess that Cleveland does, too - I'm sure they'd support someone like Dennis.

61. In some areas he did much better--
Dennis spoke in Fairbanks Alaska yesterday. Great speech:
Today was the Democratic precinct caucus.
Results for the 7 Fairbanks-area districts (of 40 Alaska districts):
6% - Howard Dean - 3 delegates
20% - Uncommitted - 10 delegates
22% - John Kerry - 11 delegates
51% - Dennis Kucinich - 25 delegates

Brian Rogers

Is there a correlation between places he's visited and especially strong finishes? Too bad he can't personally talk to every voter.
