8. Are they of it? ---what kind of crap is that?

Oh I see Peggy is pissed because it turns out that Reagan is now a black guy and not theirs

Barack Obama's biggest draw is not his eloquence. When you watch an Obama speech, you lean forward and listen and think, That's good. He's compelling, I like the way he speaks. And afterward all the commentators call him "impossibly eloquent" and say "he gave me thrills and chills." But, in fact, when you go on the Internet and get a transcript of the speech and print it out and read it--that is, when you remove Mr. Obama from the words and take them on their own--you see the speech wasn't all that interesting, and was in fact high-class boilerplate

She is describing Reagan.

9. You nailed it
and, hopefully, Obama is about to start three decades of pain for the Republican Right like Reagan did for us in 1980.

12. She is both right and wrong
Right - in that Obama measures out his eloquence on the stump, and doesn't fill his speeches with it, but is asking for votes when you get down to it.

Wrong - in that presidents' best speeches are made in office, not on the stump. 'Ask not what your country can do for you...', the immortal speech by Kennedy, was his inaugural address. Who remembers what he said on the stump?

I often disagree with Noonan but respect her opinions. You can be sure Obama and his advisers don't mind thoughtful reasoned criticism either.

13. Yeah, and it took 8 years of nightmare
to percipitate this phenomenon.

I was at a Gore "Inconvenient Truth" slide show last April in New York and the adulation was stunning!

15. It bothers me that so many are looking for someone to save them or
favor them.. they are star struck.. and it bothers me.. The People are the Power, not the other way around. And Bush was 8 yrs of, "I'm the decider"... some of these children don't know any better. I've only seen a deterioration around me.

3. I love it.
You think you've seen it all, then you find Democrats BITCHING because a candidate for president is "too popular."

Then we wonder why we keep failing as a party....
