90-Day Media Strategy by Bush's Aides to Define Kerry
http://www.nytimes.com/2004/03/20/politics/campaign/20CAMP.html?hp

WASHINGTON, March 19 - President Bush's campaign is following an aggressive and precise 90-day media strategy to define Senator John Kerry as indecisive and lacking conviction, with a coordinated blitz of advertisements, speeches and sound bites, senior campaign advisers said this week.

The goal, several campaign aides said, is to first strip Mr. Kerry of the positive image that he carried away from the Democratic primary contests and then to define him issue by issue in their own terms before the summer vacation season. The central thrusts will be national security and taxes, they said.

The aides said the strategy was planned weeks ago in coordination with Karl Rove, Mr. Bush's chief political aide, while Mr. Kerry was battling for his party's nomination.

2. Bush will be going up against a hell of a head wind
While Rove plays his 'define Kerry' game, the news will be about;

GI's being killed in Iraq
Richard Clarke's bombshell tell all book
The investigation of fraudulant Medicare cost estimates
The investigation of $100,000 bribes for Medicare votes
The 9/11 investigation testimony
Bin Laden slips through the net
Unemployment
Skyrocketing gas prices
More GI's being killed in Iraq
The investigation of Valerie Palme being outed as a CIA agent
The investigation of the theft of Democratic Senate files
More unemployment
Bin Laden slips through the net again
Deficits as big as the mole on Barbara Bush's neck
Allies backing out of Iraq

Karl has his hands full. While he tries to define Kerry, the Bush record will define Bush.

4. Too bad these incompetents have such a weak product in b*sh
Rove excels at destruction politics - he should - it's all he's done since high school.

Unfortunately for his boy, Team Rove has pilfered, pummeled and (pardon me) p!ssed on this nation and the world. People have noticed.

Rove can adhere to a 90 day precision plan and try to define Kerry all he wants with those deep pockets. Too bad this is not what counts with the voters.

The defining features of the POTUS are what concern people - name any category and he fails to meet minimum standards.

5. Right now
Bush is fighting his way upstream for electoral votes, as there as 11 states in with sure Democratic majorities or heavily leaning Democrat with 124 electoral votes and only five sure Republican or leaning Republican states in with 45 electotal votes for Bush, The rest of the states are too close to call, but right now two of them, Ohio and Michigan have Kerry with significant leads giving another 38 electoral votes and Pennsylvania.Close but leaning toweards Kerry giving another 21. Kerry is way ahead in relatively sure electoral votes.

Kerry is leaving little to chance and he is playing the elevctoral vote strategy well, hitting the states that are too close with large amounts of electoral votes very heavily. Mont of these are the industrial states on the Great Lakes that have lost a lot of industrial jobs to outsourcing and Kerry's focus on jobs is playing very well in those states.

Right now Kerry is leading in 11 states which will give him over 182 electoral votes, within 88 of the 270 needed to win the presidency. All he needs to do is hold on to them and a win is almost a done deal.
