Obama seeks 1,000,000 donors.
Front page of Obama campaign website.

If you haven't donated to Obama, you can give $10 tonight,
and help him reach the one-million donors goal.

6. Actually yes it was
and I have been a supporter of his since the beginning (dare I say day one?) but in my defense, I run a political message board myself that I have to always shell out money for without ever getting any in return. So when I tell my wife I want to donate to a campaign she always asks when I am going to get money back out of my site then lol. Tonight I just sort of put my foot down for the cause though. :D

Edited on Fri Feb-22-08 08:38 PM by sweets
"i don't care how many charities you give money to, just don't give to politicians." he says "it has a way of trickling down into their pockets". i told him about my first contribution to obama and he said "that's okay". i know he suspects that i've given more.

BTW. hubby was a republican for years and changed parties so he could vote for obama. :bounce:

11. Your Hubby is right.
When Obama was in the Illinois state legislature he made $53,581 yet they bought a $2 million dollar home. Then they paid an additional $104,500 for FIVE FEET OF LAWN. So his yard would be symmetrical. How nice. I'm sure he appreciates every trickle down dollar.

Go look at his tax returns. They're publicly available - just google 'Obama tax return'.

5. The best thing about this is....
currently they are a little less than 40,000 away. Their goal is that amount by March 4. As the number continues going towards 1,000,000, more and more people will give to be apart of it. Hopefully this gets some good press coverage.

13. Sort of like the Million Man March convened by Louis Farrakhan
Don't think the similarity will slip by Rush and his listeners. Didn't his campaign manager run this by anyone before he went with it? We don't need mistakes like this in the GE.

30. I agree
I say Obama had "a million ways" he could have phrased a fund raising event. People are paid big bucks to think of ideas. Was this the best use of those advertising moments? Linking, however tenuously, to an event arranged by a man hated by many otherwise NOT BIGOTED folks.

I want to win in November. I don't want to fight the shadows in people's minds.

27. Dunno, Eric...I saw this on another
site and that's the only acknowledgement he(?)gave his quote. But, I had to have it for DU during the height of its fever pitched "cultist" accusations.

Thanks for this link to the Obama Million$$$$ Donor Matching Fund site. I like the way the Obama campaign suggests $5 or whatever..it makes people feel that even if they don't have a lot to spare they can do something and that's important:)

32. Oh dear! That is so sweet..it's gotta
have a positive impact on candidates who are real when they travel around our country running for prez. I think it made Dean, Kerry, and Edwards better men than they were even. And you know it's giving Obama and Michelle the impetus they need to carry on.
