I'm so aggravated with the media's lies about Kerry's $87 billion vote
Everywhere all I see is the media repeating Bush's lies that Kerry "voted against the troops."

THAT'S BULLSHIT!

First of all, it is hypocritical for the Bush Administration to call this a vote against the troops when they threatened to veto it themselves if the final version included a provision to make $10 billion of these funds into a loan to be paid back to the U.S. taxpayers.

Secondly, it's common knowledge that often in Congress, there are several versions of bills and senators pick and choose the versions they want to vote for and against. Kerry wanted to vote for the version that contained the amendment of where the $87 billion would come from (repeal taxes on the wealthy). As a matter of fact, he sponsored that bill. That bill did not pass and the one that did pass was the one Kerry voted "no" on, the one that had no plan for where the $87 billion would come from. Basically, the fiscally irresponsible one. Too bad the version Kerry sponsored got rejected or maybe we wouldn't have record-high deficits and economic trouble today.

Lastly, if George Bush was so concerned about making sure that our troops were protected, why did he rush them to Iraq without the proper body armor? Mothers and fathers had to spend their own money on body armor for their sons in war. Thankfully, Kerry has sponsored a bill that will repay the families that had to use their own money for purchasing body armor when their sons were rushed to war unprotected for seven months by Bush.

I'm just so fucking aggravated with the media whores basically spewing the trash that Bush feeds them in his attack ads without doing ten seconds of research to find out the whole story.

This is exactly how they killed Gore. I'm getting scared and pissed.

1. No it is much worse
Gore could have defended himself, but didn't. They will not even give Kerry the airtime.

4. True. We're not even given the airtime to defend attacks.

2. Buck Up - We've got 8 months of this
Edited on Thu Mar-18-04 09:19 PM by RobertSeattle
Just like the Bush and the GOP cherry picked Intel, they are cherry picking Kerry's votes.

If Bush had sent the troops to Iraq with the proper equipment IN THE FIRST PLACE, no vote on additional body armor would have been needed anyway.

3. I know that's the truth, but...
the PEOPLE don't know that because the fucking media won't tell the whole story!

The media is only spewing the Kerry voted against the troops shit and they're ignoring the Bush sent the troops in with no body armor side of it.

It's killing me! ARGH!

5. Cheer up! Larry Sabato, GOP political guru, say Bush in trouble, denial!
Edited on Fri Mar-19-04 08:10 AM by flpoljunkie
While channel surfing last night during commercial break, caught Larry Sabato on Hannity & Colmes; Sabato is a very conservative professor from the University of Virginia, who is also an author and political analyst.

He says Bush is behind in a number of states--Pennsylvania, Florida, West Virginia, Ohio and others--even very red states--and that the Bush campaign is in denial--going blithely along ignoring this disturbing trend.

Sabato seemed pissed at their ineptitude. It made my day!

C-Span. Catch the re-run. McAuliffe creamed him, but didn't answer this particular smear.

7. Send money if you care
Donate to Kerry. Only with our financial backing will he be able to counter the Bush propaganda. The Bush campaign has a ton of money which is already hard at work against Kerry.

12. Thanks for assuming I already didn't.
I've already donated to Kerry's campaign. Gone to Kerry meetups. I write one Letter to the Editor per week. I'm already doing more than most. I have a right to be frustrated right now.

13. I didn't assume you didn't
and I'm sorry you took offense at my post, which was only meant to encourage people in general to donate to the campaign, and was not in any way, shape or form meant as a criticism of you.

I'm not saying you don't have a right to be aggravated, I'm not saying you don't have a right to be frustrated, I'm not saying anything negative about you at all.

9. How Kerry Can Manipulate The Lying Media Right Back
The media is no more responsible or objective today than they were during Bush v. Gore. To expect them to play fair is akin to Indians expecting the U.S. cavalry to.

Kerry needs take a page from the repugnant playbook. He should force the media (against their will) into making him look and sound good -- by giving them NOTHING but pictures that make him look good and sound bites that repeatedly (and factually) skewer Bush.

If the networks have nothing but good pics of Kerry to run, that's what they'll HAVE to run on the evening news.

Likewise, if Kerry skewers Bush in short sound bites every time he opens his mouth, the media will HAVE to include those sound bites in their reports (or else cover up his words -- but not his good pictures -- with voice-overs, which will soon get old).

In this manner, Kerry could bring up all sorts of things the press would otherwise avoid -- i.e., Harken, AWOL, 'Healthy' Forests, Lies about WMD, etc. Bush is so crooked, inept, mean and corrupt that Kerry could criticize him for something new every day and never repeat himself.

Good pictures of JFK I'd personally like to see on the evening news include him flying his own helicopter to campaign events, windsurfing, guitar playing, etc. -- good old American hero stuff.

And there's one more thing he ought to do right away -- tonight, if possible (but I bet Rove will have Bush do it first).

Kerry ought to go see "The Passion of Christ" asap. He needn't comment on it, he just needs to go see it before Bush does and makes a big, weepy deal about it. Imagine the loving coverage Bush will get if he sees it first. Members of our national press corps will gather round to hold his hand and dab at his tears as he tells how moved he was by this film about his favorite political philosopher. Shrub will probably end his comments by saying that Jesus was truly a great American.

And the press won't correct him.

(You saw it here first, FReepers. Bush didn't think of it on his own)

10. look, kerry hasn't made it any easier on himself
with made for soundbyte statements like this-- The commercial is slated to run on cable stations across the country. It includes a clip of Kerry telling an audience on Tuesday, "I actually did vote for the $87 billion, before I voted against it." http://www.reuters.com/newsArticle.jhtml?type=politicsNews&storyID=4601590

bushco quickly added that tasty morsel to the end of a commercial already running.

it with another ad just as hard hitting.

14. If you're pissed already, your head will explode by Nov.
Remember, this is what the mainstream media DOES. They don't report -- they sensationalize. They don't try to present facts, they look to hype the next scandal for all its worth. They don't aim to disseminate objective analysis and information -- they jockey position for ratings.

It's going to be a long election season if you're getting this angry already.

15. Tune out a bit
You have to limit what you listen to or you will lose your mind.

I just don't subject myself to the loudmouth blathering liars. I rarely watch CNN, Faux, or MSGOP. I don't tune into Rush. I stay away from the Sunday morning shows and the network news at all costs.

I read the newspaper daily, a weekly newsmagazine (only skimming the stories that raise my blood pressure) and constantly scan Google news, DU LBN, and at times CNN.

I will watch CSPAN as it is basically nonpartison and somewhat intelligent although I don't watch the endless speeches to empty chambers.

I always tune out Bush* whenever I hear his voice.

I've been doing this since post-Selection because I just couldn't stand it any longer.

I'm very well informed and feel no responsibility to listen to the "other" side as I know quite well where they're coming from and their justification for their actions.

It is going to be a long and painful seven months. I will be a nervous wreck on Election Day. I hope it will be a Kerry landslide.
