How about Katrina vanden Heuvel for press secretary?
Kerry's press secretary Katrina vanden Heuvel?

She always knows the right answers. She would be great with the reporters.

1. Lol
She's very good, but would not make a good press secretary. She's far too much of an entity in her own right. The purpose of the Press Secretary is simply to shadow the President, report his positions, and do as much as possible not to embarass him.

3. I think she would be great.
I agree with the previous person, that it is not the most attractive position. However, there is a new type of democratic leadership emerging in the land. I think that it is in part from the Dean campaign calling out the spirits of the 1960s. It's like he led a Ghost Dance that brought a great life force to the forefront of the political spectrum. People of great potential, such as Katrina, are capable of acting on values beyond dollars and cents and self-interest. In the '60s, the spirits that inhabit this land gave the American youth a great message: Think for yourself & act for others. More than many realize, this election has to do with some unfinished business. Hence, Hardball plays the Nixon tapes this week. There is a big conflict coming. I think that in the spirit of cooperation, she would accept the position.

But think about this for a second: Al Sharpton as press scty!
Bet those press conferences would'nt be so bland after that!

:silly:

9. Al, oh yes Al! But he needs a better job than press secretary.
No we can't let his talents go to waste or Katerina's. There has to be places in a new administration for them.

6. I think she's an airhead, at least when communicating
She argues in soundbites. She seems incapable of original or maverick thought. The Nation is also pretty bad compared to what it used to be I'm told, I didn't read it before she came to the helm, but I have on occasion recently.

8. She sometimes spouts too much CW
But she hasn't exactly run The Nation into the ground as its Editor: I believe she put it solidly in the black, and shot it past TNR in terms of subscriptions/circulation.

11. Well, when you can do sound bytes better than she can, perhaps
you can criticize. The fact that she can jump from print to saying it opposite scream trolls like tweety shows that she is focused. What proof do you offer about the Nation being worse to what it used to be? What "used to be" are you referring to? I find it very good reading.

Katrina graduated summa cum laude from Princeton. She's about as smart as they come.

10. She's Kerry's press secretary?
I didn't know that. All I knew was that she was the editor of The Nation.
