instead of heading far away(expensive plane fare) and doing an elite sport like skiing-snowboarding,,,,have you seen what they charge for lift tickets recently?

Ordinary Joe, josefina are't going to relate to this rich man's vacation.

24. kerry ISN'T an ordinary man
he doesn't need to put on a false image to show he cares as he actually is on the right side on the issues unlike bush who puts on the false image while ripping off the people he claims to be like. kerry served in the military when many like him got out of it using connections. and i know many people who go to the mountains for vacation and they aren't very rich like kerry is.

25. I think there's a possibilty they are trying to recreate the Kennedy
Edited on Thu Mar-18-04 05:37 PM by KoKo01
Mystique. I worry that this will turn off some folks. Contrasting Kerry's elegant lifestyle (and lets face it folks, he does have an elegant lifestyle) with the Chimp's Pretend ranch with rented cows and shrub, and the pond stacked with "Prarie Creek Bass" does do wonders for some folks. But only those who want "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous" for President.

He really needs to tone this down. I think a few days in the Carribean or relaxing in Aspen with a little "downhill" would have seemed more appropriate than this photo of him with his "snowboard." Photos of him reading and seriously studying issues affecting the Democratic Party or even a novel or work of non-fiction would be more effective with folks like me, who aren't interested in 60 year old men who "snowboard, play hockey, ride Harley's and kill pheasants.

The image doesn't do much to dispell his image of extreme wealth, in contrast to "Poor Boy George" with that "scrubgrass ranch" who's one of "US."

I honestly think that Bush's supporters think he's poor. They don't seem to want to know how the Bush's got their money or how much they are worth, but the Press will treat Kerry like the Kennedy's.

Not good....his managers ought to tone that stuff down until after the Election when Kerry can do whatever he wants but now...it doesn't look so great except to those who love the "look" of wealth, and privilege in a Dem. :-(

26. most don't give a shit about kerry being rich
only those who hate him bring it up and attack him as elitist or whatever. kerry was in los angeles and meeting with grocery workers on strike last month. i talked to some of them and they love him because he understands them, he listened to them. it's not about how much kerry's hair style costs or where he vacations, it's about whether he can help them with decent jobs and decent income, whether he can help them with good quality and affordable health care. and with paying for their kids college. he didn't just give a speech, he LISTENED to them and answered their specific questions. and they also have a lot of respect for a man who served his country in the military.

29. Yes, but Kerry can't personally meet with every American and show
understanding. It's the "Media" who manipulate the rest of folks.

They aren't going to show Bush meeting with the grocery workers on strike in Los Angeles, but if they did show it and then cut to a photo of Kerry snoboarding or yachting, it would make it seem he's a "shmoozer" who can talk a good line about "caring for folks" on the way to one of his Mansions for a Campaign Break for R&R.

That's all I'm trying to say. Kerry needs to be careful with this stuff. Look at how they "spun Gore." He needs to look like a man of the people who can relax better than the insulated little Chimp.

The photo posted here, looks bizarre to me... sorry...just my gut reaction.

28. WOCA are coming....
Maybe when Rove's attack machine start pouting off about Kerry relaxing, we can kindly remind America how this President ELECT has taken more vacation days than any President in history. I hope the strategy..opps strate'gery, is to DARE the Bush-finger-pointing-machine to say something...I say, next stop for Kerry should be a military funeral, after that, an elderly nursing home, after that, Vet hospital, after that an unemployment agency, and so on and so on...all his speeches should have a back drop of "Business closed, Out of Business, Business for Sale, etc." Rove is just itching to bring out the WOCA...Weapons of Character Assassination. BRING IT ON!

Kerry should have commercials about Bush being on MARS he's so out of touch...come on...steriods, Mars, gay rights while spouting off about being a war President...get serious george, the world isn't your playground! Come on Kerry....it's time to call out the big dogs and show America that Bush wants to take this country BACKwards...we want to take our country BACK, so we can start saving it for our future...our children!

Gas prices are high because Bush is just itching to drill on American soil...Kerry should say, NEVER! He should pledge to liberate America from being held hostage to Oil nations. It's time for a new America, you're either for making America better for our children or you're not.

Kerry needs to propose a counter BILL to the "No Child Left Behind," and make it, "NO Child will ever have Asthma."

Kerry needs to promise America that the Freedom of Information Act will be upheld in his presidency and he will not conduct politics behind secret doors.

Kerry needs to REMIND Americans that he will NEVER oust a CIA employee as retaliation, and if it happened under his roof, (the White House roof) he'd find the person responsible and fire them.

We Democrats just need to go right down the check list of this George the Horrible heinous deeds and make sure America does know the truth.

Kerry needs new catch phrases to interject here and there....and if a vacation stirs up the media so that Kerry can start bringing up the juxtaposition of Georgie playing cowboy...then again...BRING IT ON! I'm ready...and I think he's got the cool to do this without losing his cool like Dean...don't get me wrong, I too dated Dean!

Kerry needs to tell America.."George W. Bush thinks you're stupid, he thinks he can change reality by just saying so. Aren't you tired America of a President that can't say he's sorry? Aren't you tired America of a President who squanders our children's future?" I know I am! The choice is yours, you're either for America's future or for more of the same? You're choice America.

be "snowboarding," instead of doing some "downhill?" The message was that "Hey I'm 60 but I can still be a kid." He could also break his leg..do we need that??? Not, at this point we don't. And, if he isn't doing serious "snowboarding" (a 60 year old doing snowboarding at all???) then what the heck is this photo-op about? It looks like that Harley thing and reminds me of Chimp with the sock in his crotch doing his "FlyBoy" imitation?

Sorry...the more I see that photo the more it bothers me for "Image" right now at this time, in the campaign.

Snowboarding 60 Year Old!!!.......oh man ....way cool! All those kids are going to sign right up to vote in November, because I can snowboard....

36. What you are saying would be valid if Kerry were a phony
who was just snowboarding for political purposes. Whereas, in reality, Kerry really does like to go snowboarding on vacation, and he is on vacation. I get to go skiing every morning before I have my coffee (I hike up the hill on my property) but Kerry is not so lucky, he's been working non-stop to oust Bush for months. I think he deserves a chance to have some fun on his day off.

Those who want Kerry to make every political correct move at the expense of being who he really is and saying what he really thinks are going to be disappointed.

I didn't even know the man could bend. I wouldn't be so hard on him about this one, I think it's a good move (politically and literally).

40. My 62-year-old father-in-law recently took up boarding
...a few years back, for the simple reason that it's easier on his damaged knees. He's a doc, he should know. :)

And, speaking as someone whose life is funded by income from the "sliding on snow" industry, I can tell you while skier numbers ("downhill") have remained flat over the past five years, snowboarding numbers are the only growth in the industry -- and interestingly, the 40+ crowd is the largest demographic.

I think it's a pretty shrewd photo-op. I also approve of his gear.

Kerry Arrives in Idaho for Vacation

By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

TWIN FALLS, Idaho (AP) -- Presumptive Democratic presidential nominee John Kerry is taking a five-day respite from the campaign trail at his vacation home north of nearby Ketchum.

The senator and his wife, Teresa Heinz Kerry, landed in Twin Falls in an unmarked Boeing 737 Wednesday evening.

Kerry shook hands with airport firefighters and staff. The Secret Service kept onlookers 500 feet away until Kerry and his entourage left in a 10-vehicle motorcade.

The Kerrys planned to remain in Ketchum until Tuesday. No campaign fund-raisers or public events are planned, said Maria Weeg, executive director of the Idaho Democratic party.

"They're just coming to town for rest and relaxation,'' she said.
