So if McCain gets knocked out early what is the Republican back up plan?
I know Romney just suspended his campaign so I would assume he would get back in and take on Huckabee?

1. I imagine if he only "suspended" his campaign, he can get back in.

7. ps:
he also requested that his delegates go to McCain - which they don't have to do, but the fact that he's released his delegates..... that's gotta mean something in the way of blocking his way back in.

3. This throws the GOP into a tail spin. McCain has over 900 delegates already.

12. I suppose if the GOP forces him to step down, he can play kingmaker--
and award his delegates to somebody else. I bet it'll be Romney. Romney was gracious.

5. I asked this morning
and no one replied to my thread.

I'm guessing McCain would have to give his delegates to someone, probably Romney. And Romney and Huckabee would have to fight it out until the convention for the remaining states/delegates until someone reached the magic number. If that hadn't happened by convention time, it would be a free for all.

AND he has the funding ability.

15. As an Obama supporter, I'm not sure I'm happy
about this. This opens the door to the GOP selecting a much stronger candidate than McCain. I'm happy with an Obama v. McCain GE, b/c I think it overwhelmingly favors Obama.

There's a much bigger story. She won't get the attention she needs.

Also, Obama is now the family values candidate. The Clintons and McCains can't keep their pants on.

26. If Jeb Bush really is more intelligent than his brother....
...he would realise that he couldn't possibly win anything with that name for at least four years. He'd be better off buying a cheap disguise and calling himself Jub Besh.

20. I suspect he'll be leaving the race soon for "health reasons"
He got what he wanted: Which was to finally be the presidential nominee. But he knows damn well that he can't handle the job at this point. This "McCain" thing is not gonna happen... But I'm so terrified of who the replacement will be. Huckabee's policies are scary as hell.

41. Nope.
Fred didn't begin his acting career until 1987. He was a politician before he went into acting. It was Reagan that was an actor first. Besides, Fred was only 18 in 1960.
