Tweety blather
sorry if my first post is a dupe, but did anyone hear Matthews this AM on the Today Show saying that "most Americans support/supported the Iraq War"? Even if that were true BEFORE the war, it can't seriously be true now can it? He didn't say "a technical majority" he said MOST. And of course Lauer said nothing...on to the latest in the Michael Jackson case...

1. Technically most do in the abstract.
Whether or not they think it was worth it is another matter entirely.

3. Just before the actual invasion polls showed ~45%
supported an invasion. It shot up to 70+ once the troops went in.

6. the 70% # after the initial order crossing is normal...
for any nation that is going to war. Once the first shots are fired, there is a surge in support for the troops, NOT for the administration that sent them in. No on wants American lives to be sacrificed, so we generally get behind the troops.

Just as before the initial shots were fired though, the support has dropped; NOT for the troops, these are our sons and daughters, our parents and our siblings that are fighting. But the #'s dropped for the administration that sent them there. While I was always curious as to the high #'s bush was getting, I am not surprised that support for him has evaporated.

The best support we can give our military, is to get them out of there, and get the UN in to establish a government that will be to the advantage to the Iraqi's.

bush is under the delusion he is some kind of king or emperor. Rather than accept the fact that democracy can not be instilled on an unwilling populace w/the point of a bayonet, he feels that force is always right. Just as the former European and Asian colonial govt's found out before bush, it is best to put forth our best face, as opposed to our military might to affect change.

Beans and books are far better than bullets and bombs.

5. Matthews
I have to tell you, I watch Matthews a lot. I honestly think he is trying to "tote the corporate line" with MSNBC, but every once in awhile, he lets what I believe to be his true leanings shine through, especially when it comes to Cheney. Don't you think that the media is starting to drastically lean the other way because of the ratings that Fox news gets. I think its terrible actually. Whatever happened to non-biased journalism! I've never believed in a liberal bias. That's what conservatives say when someone presents the facts! Now it seems like each of the networks, both cable and regular TV are sacrificing journalistic integrity for money and ratings share. Unfortunately, it may to be Kerry's detriment as frankly, the majority of America is dumbed down and doesn't read, investigate or for that matter, think for themselves!

7. That was beltway thinking. Most of America was against the Iraq war.
Just the Midwest and the beltway were in favor. Tweety is out of touch with most Americans as you can tell by his own poll numbers.
