Kerry and War Funding
Ok, so now the Bush administration is criticizing Kerry for voting against war funding for the troops. This is *not* something I fault Kerry for if it is indeed true, but I'm concerned that it could hurt him. They are accusing him of being this cruel, heartless person who doesn't support the poor troops (Ugh, I knew it was about time for some mud slinging.). I'm just curious if he has responded to this, and what did he say?

1. Here is how I understand it
Kerry was for a bill that would pay for the 87 billion by asking the richest of the rich in this country to give up some of Bush's tax cut. Kerry was being fiscally responsible.

Bush wanted to put the bill on a credit card, to be paid by our kids.

In hind sight, with all the fraud linked to Halliburton in Iraq since the bill passed, it seems kind of obvious that Bush's strategy of linking the military aid to the contracts for Halliburton was the worst form of corrupt political cronyism.

The Bush regime stoops as low as they can go, every time.

Shame on them.

2. Kerry: "Why were troops sent in without equipment in the 1st place?"

A great answer, which I am paraphrasing from his excellent speech he gave today...

3. Kerry co-sponsored an amendment
to the bill which would raise taxes on the wealthy to pay the $87 billion. He voted yes on that. It did not pass. He voted no on the second one ($87 billion with no way to pay for it).

So he did vote to give the money to the troops, he just didn't vote for the one that passed. He voted for the other one.

4. .
So Kerry could actually turn it around and point to the people who voted no themselves on that other bill?
