Poll question: Who's Worse-Cheney Or Agnew...
I Say Dick (Six Draft Deferments)* Cheney...

Spiro Agnew was a corrupt former governor who stumbled on to Nixon's ticket but he never manipulated his nation into a unjust and illegal war to line his former company's pockets...

Also, he didn't have Dick Cheney's annoying habit of talking out of the side of his mouth...

*As an aside he's morally unfit to criticize John (Bronze Star and three Purple Hearts) Kerry...

1. this is a very tough one
but I guess I'd have to say Cheney too because no one (especially Nixon) took Agnew seriously.

Nixon kept Spiro on the ticket in '72 but the tapes make clear that Nixon was going to do all he could to make John Connally the GOP nominee in '76.

2. Agnew was a viscious despicable thug
The hit man for "The New Nixon". He slandered all those who opposed the crimes of the Nixon Administration and the Vietnam War (with a vocabulary provided by William Safire). He referred to the students shot down in cold blood at Kent State as "bums". He is one of those pieces of human garbage that makes me hope there really is a Hell.

Guess how I voted?

5. Agnew was an idiot who had NO
influence under Nixon. Cheney is simply dangerous. A guerilla ideologue with minions everywhere in the administration and the media. He is an abomination.

10. in '68
Humphrey carried Maryland--and Agnew was the incumbent governor at that time, but Wallace is the reason that Humphrey did carry Maryland.

On the other hand, HHH's running mate was Ed Muskie of Maine and he did deliver his state to the Democrats for the first time in many election cycles--heck, JFK didn't even carry Maine--or FDR, in '36 FDR lost only Maine and Vermont and the famous saying, "As Maine goes so goes the nation" was altered to "As Maine goes so goes Vermont."

12. Crash cart is a monster with no conscience or soul.
Agnew was a garden variety crook who took a few bucks while he was in Maryland and used the money to buy a thesaurus.

14. Agnew was a harmless old crook who took a few bribes
Nixon never took him seriously. But Cheney -- who was one of Nixon's underlings -- is practically a dictator and has far more power than any "vice" president in our history.
