I will be spending significant time between now and March 4 talking to trusted investigative journalists in Ohio and Texas, and, to a lesser extent, Rhode Island.

Some of these contacts go back more than a decade. Even http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&as_qdr=all&q=david+smith+halliburton">the relationships formed as the Halliburton/KBR investigations in TX and elsewhere have unfolded, have quickly cemented into solid relationships.

If you're a DUer in any of the 4 states holding contests on March 4, and have a particular favorite among your local media, please give a shout out with a reason why.

Thanks!

Best to all,

- Dave

P.S. The media contact links are provided for the benefit of others who may have info to send those outlets during the lead-up to the contests. Thankfully, there are subscription-based PR/Marketing packages that keep the up-to-date fax numbers, e-mail addresses, etc. current, at least on a quarterly (and sometimes, monthly) basis.

2. I try not to be greedy with methods, sources, etc., unless there is a very rational reason.
Enjoy!

9. You around by phone tomorrow? It would help to know the background...
... of how it came to your attention. I am curious about that, too. Quite.

3. For Dallas,
the best guys covering the local scene are Robert Wilonsky and Jim Shutze at the Dallas Observer. They know where all the bodies are buried. :D

Blog is here:

Some good folks here, too, but not nearly as good as the guys at the Observer.

4. Very much appreciated! Dallas is a weaker link in my TX contact list...
... although Austin, CC, El Paso, and Houston are strong suits.

Thank you!

5. why does my dinkiest state with the longest name
Edited on Tue Feb-19-08 05:08 PM by stellanoir
"The State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations" suffer such continual neglect ?

Maybe just because we were corrupt before it was nationally trendy.

Yet we were founded by someone who promoted freedom of Religion.

It's truly tough being the spawn of a semi anarchist. LOL

Good luck with your intrepid efforts.

6. One of my dissenting ancestors went to RI, the other to CT...
... and we sorta never looked back.

My partner has family in RI, and we like it more and more each time we visit.

It's not intentional neglect on my part; truth be told, much of RI is covered by the Boston media market, where I have extremely deep ties.

; )
