John Kerry....PLEASE pick a great VP....
Right now everything is teetering on the edge. There will be a lot of back and forth in the polls to be sure, with neither Bush or Kerry ever taking a massive lead. The problem is with so much in bushs arsenal...the money...the media...all of it...all it will take as we've seen with the horrible ads and the bombing in Spain, is something slight to tip the balance. Look at how the polls have changed in a week. Granted, they could change back.

But right now Kerry is standing out there relatively alone and unguarded except for his speeches and his fighting back. But until he puts a team in place, especially his VP selection, he will be at the disadvantage.

If he picks someone whose announcement goes over with a thud I will be afraid. If he picks someone who gets people excited rather than someone who is simply geographically correct, then I think that will start a momentum that will be difficult to beat.

Please...please. No Evan Bayhs

1. Edwards
Best speaker out of the bunch (including Kerry and Bush).

3. The corporate media would love to get their hands on Edwards
Being the "best speaker" in the bunch won't save Edwards from being painted as the personal injury attorney who channels unborn children. What does the Democratic party want to become - a pathetic joke?

14. The number one vote winner and the number two together would be strong
This "fear" that Edwards has anything to worry about by being a member of the only class of rich person (lawyers) that Republicans DON'T like is unfounded. The fact that Edwards represents people against corporate greed would be a plus, not a minus, if Edwards were picked.

15. Totally agree.
I know people in OH really love Edwards. This idea that some people have that you have to be from the Midwest to help the ticket is just so wrong. Edwards already has proven appeal there.

Edwards makes Kerry more appealing. He makes the ticket more positive, more hopeful, more charismatic. Bayh makes the ticket duller and more policy wonkish. That doesn't help Kerry in OH. I don't think someone like Bayh would offend swing voters in OH. However, he will offedn voters on the left and he won't attract new voters.

4. Yeah

I was going to mention Clark.

He'd be the best candidate for national security, but is also a relatively poor campaigner.

The kind of VP we need depends on what the election will be decided on; economic security, or national security.

6. Have you ever seen Clark campaign?
I've seen him and just laugh at CNN's spin.

9. I've seen Wes Clark "in person"
live, in the flesh...3 times and the man is an AWESOME speaker. The crowds roared and absolutely loved him. He's a WONDERFUL campaigner and has a very warm and kind personality. Trust me....the media has not done the man justice.....he's terrific on the stump.

7. Sen. McCain or Sen. Durbin
Edited on Wed Mar-17-04 09:37 AM by Smirky McChimpster
McCain would get independents, unite the country, and make 1 less repub. senator (even though i don't trust him)

Durbin is a great speaker and has been leading the fight on all the issues. i think he is a good-natured person.

8. Durbin rocks
I believe this election will be decided by the mid-west. Durbin is from there and he rocks.

Adding him to the ticket would certainly improve my morale re: this election. Probably lots of others too who aren't all that excited about Kerry.

10. I'd be happy with McCain
John Kerry would still be the man in the White House after all.

11. From what I've heard...
about Durbin, he sounds good, but I've heard Kerry is looking for someone that can definetely deliver a swing state. Illinois is already "in the bag".

12. Durbin
is a partisan. He isn't going to get any independents. Wrong choice. The stongest candidates are Clark and Breaux. He must pick one of these guys.

Durbin is a bleeding heart liberal who is pro gay marriage, and from a state that the Repukes have written off to us anyways.

Bad choice (to win).
