Losing before we have a chance to win
Edited on Tue Mar-16-04 11:51 PM by WillyBrandt
What the hell is it with all this sourpuss posts?

The large majority of polls show Kerry with a lead--varying between slight and strong--, Kerry seems to be running a solid campaign, the fundraising is proceeding well, the White House operation is functioning fairly poorly . . .

Yet, an ounce of bad news becomes blown up into a ton of doomsaying and desair. Woe is us, the Democrats, for we cannot defeat the baboon!

Please. The momentum and energy is on our side, the numbers are shaping up well for us (Congressionally, too), and what was once a faraway dream--ousting Bush--is almost within our grasp.

But . . . we must instead gaze into our navels and cry?

No. The hell with that. I'm donating again to Kerry. I want him to kick the shit out of Bush. I hope he fights like the underdog, instead of whimpering like a loser.

ON EDIT: Instead of pissant self-pitying fluff, here's the attitude we need. Quoth Gen. Patton:

I don't want to get any messages saying, "I am holding my position." We are not holding a Goddamned thing. Let the Germans do that. We are advancing constantly and we are not interested in holding onto anything, except the enemy's balls. We are going to twist his balls and kick the living shit out of him all of the time. Our basic plan of operation is to advance and to keep on advancing regardless of whether we have to go over, under, or through the enemy. We are going to go through him like crap through a goose; like shit through a tin horn!

4. Kerry is a real fighter
Those who saw him getting killed by the press and in the polls against Weld know how effective he will be when things get down and dirty. His performance, in their last debate in particular, was remarkable. It's about time we had a dem candidate who isn't afraid to say things like they are and call Bush and co. the crooks and liars that they are.

5. My only worry is that they seem to be a bit slow with
their response to this.

Remember: it doesn't matter (alas) if you're right. You've just always have to have the initiative. Either answer the call, turn the tables, or change topics.

Why not put out an ad talking about how Kerry's this big war hero, and saying that Bush was AWOL then and he's AWOL now.

7. Heh...
I'd pay to see that.

You have to remember that he's only been back in the black for a week or so. It's going to take some serious time to amass the money necessary for an ad blitz. And there's Bush's biggest advantage. He's got something like $200 million in the bank...that he has to use for his "renomination" campaign! What's Kerry have now, after his bills? $10 million?

I just don't think it's financially possible yet. Hopefully soon.

12. Where are the left-wing smear artists?
Where are the people spreading the (true) rumors that Laura killed a guy with her car, that Bush did cocaine and thinks it's OK to burn people with cigarettes, that Bush is a drunk driver, etc.

Where is the down and dirty nastiness?

14. God forbid we get Chris Lehane back
It seems like he's the only one willing to go there, and we know how well things turn out when he's involved

16. We need to have someone who's a Master
of Disaster--just in case things get tight.

I also think Kerry isn't pounding on this debate idea enough.

Time to call Bush a coward. To comission polls asking whether there should be debates. Etc.

11. Fa chrissake, folks
Oh no, MSNBC and CNN and Fox are mean to Kerry!!! All of the 2.1 market share who see it will be brainwashed.

Heh.

Two words: Howard. Stern.

You want an audience? Try Howard stomping the balls off George on his radio show. Leno also clobbered Bush tonight but good.

Turn off the cable news channels. Back away slowly.

17. Amen. That shit will rot your brain.
Best thing I ever did for myself was get rid of the cable 5 years ago. Amazing the time you find to think when you don't have the idiot box sqawking at you constantly. :)
