The election is over
I started watching hardball, and all they are doing is distorting Kerry's record with misinformation. Not only is NBC doing this but the other media WHORES are up to the same tricks.

There is no way any candidate can fight this. When you have 80-90% of the coverage as anti-Kerry, its over...

1. Don't be so pre-mature
Giving in to them is only letting the whores win. Unlike 2000, we have the internet at our disposal, and we'll debunk accusations the second they're raised.
BRING IT ON CORPORATE MEDIA!!!

I went and saw it at the drive through theater with my mom and brother when I was about 16. At least that was close to when it first came out.

Always been one of my favorite movies.

64. Yep, it's John Blutarsky. . .
. . . in the original book, he was now President of United States Steel.

In the movie, he drove off with Mandy Peppridge, and they are now Senator and Mrs. John Blutarsky, Washington DC.

But in the recent re-issued DVD, there's a little documentary on "where are they now".

. . .which ends with a "and we all know where John Blutarski is now", the shot pulls back and shows the White House.

Hmm. Drunken fratboy, now President.

Couldn't happen here. . . oops, it did.

I sometimes feel like it's hopeless. I go on sites like Yahoo! and read through the message boards and all the ugly things those people say. I don't understand how some people can be a part of a group that hates them. I'm Hispanic, I see what that party thinks of Hispanics, but every one of my relatives in Texas is going to vote for Bush. Why? Because he's from Texas. But we can't give up. Kerry hasn't even begun to fight. Besides, if no one keeps Bush in check, just think of all the stuff he'll do. It is honestly scarey.

14. Just remember...there's more time ahead...
This is still way early in the game. I've heard so many Bush ads that I'm just sick of them already. Most Dem and Republicans will be fixed in their views.

I'ld rather hear about what a regular independent voter who doesn't have cable and doesn't followed Hardball, Inside Politics...ect. and know what they think.

Basically, I think if the economcy continues to crash then Kerry wins. If Terror and National security becomes the big play then it will be harder.

But these polls will change day to day. Have hope and get out there and make sure everyone you know knows that this information about Kerry is just wrong.

16. Don't give up hope...there's always The Daily Show
"A poll released earlier this year by the Pew Research Center for the People and the Press found that 21 percent of people aged 18 to 29 cited "The Daily Show" and "Saturday Night Live" as a place where they regularly learned presidential campaign news.

By contrast, 23 percent of the young people mentioned ABC, CBS or NBC's nightly news broadcasts as a source.

Even more startling is the change from just four years ago. When the same question was asked in 2000, Pew found only 9 percent of young people pointing to the comedy shows and 39 percent to the network news shows."

From here:
http://www.cnn.com/2004/SHOWBIZ/TV/03/02/apontv.stewarts.stature.ap

The actual audiences for Hardball and the other shlock on cable are minuscule when compared to the network broadcasts. Don't let their screaming self-importance fool you.

18. Blow Up Your TV
© John Prine

She was a level-headed dancer on the road to alcohol
And I was just a soldier on my way to Montreal
Well she pressed her chest against me
About the time the juke box broke
Yeah, she gave me a peck on the back of the neck
And these are the words she spoke

Chorus:
Blow up your TV throw away your paper

Go to the country, build you a home
Plant a little garden, eat a lot of peaches
Try an find Jesus on your own

Well, I sat there at the table and I acted real naive
For I knew that topless lady had something up her sleeve
Well, she danced around the bar room and she did the hoochy-coo
Yeah she sang her song all night long, tellin' me what to do

Blow up your TV throw away your paper
Go to the country, build you a home
Plant a little garden, eat a lot of peaches
Try an find Jesus on your own

Well, I was young and hungry and about to leave that place
When just as I was leavin', well she looked me in the face
I said "You must know the answer."
"She said, "No but I'll give it a try."
And to this very day we've been livin' our way
And here is the reason why

We blew up our TV threw away our paper
Went to the country, built us a home
Had a lot of children, fed 'em on peaches
They all found Jesus on their own

after all, the original title of the song.......Spanish Pipedream.

go figure,

to condemn people with lost post counts when you once had a low post count as well. I said that "me too" because it is a relief to find somewhere where you don't get attacked for expressing a non-conservative view. anything different from Tweety?

Look, we've known all along that the mainstream corporate media is controlled by right wingers and that it was always going to be biased against the Democratic nominee, and if favor of *.

If we thought that was going to determine the outcome of election, none of us should have even bothered to support a candidate or show up to vote in primaries. We should all just plan on saving ourselves the inconvenience of going out and voting on election day.

We have always known that this was going to be an uphill battle, and that the media would not be on our side. I think it's ridiculous to concede defeat because of something we've already known about all along.

I'm sure as hell not going to concede defeat.

I watched the media war against Gore fairly closely. It was relentless. If it mattered so much he would have lost in a landslide.

Judging by the turnout in this year's decisive Dem primaries, an awful lot of voters haven't paid much attention to the past 3 years of nonstop Repig media propaganda either.

our candidates went forward. The "Polls" said this and that, but a come from behind guy took the lead. No one can know what is in the mind of everyday citizens. I know Bush will fight like a demon to stay in, but theres always the element of surprise...like the one where Kerry took the primaries, almost in one fell swoop. I'm keeping my hopes up but also doing my part to get the vote out...get others to register, donate money, plaster your car with bumper stickers etc. Don't give up yet.

Kerry has almost a 100% voting record from the Sierra Club and League of Conservation Voters. It's one of Kerry's biggest strengths, and I know he will help us all clean up the environment.

The League is launching a campaign to help Kerry win:

http://www.envirovictory.org/

If George Bush is reelected all of our National Parks will be fair game to be drilled, mined, and clear-cut. He's already proposing turning over the protected Sequoia trees to the toothpick companies.

I'm helping the Sierra Club with their campaign to help save Padre National Seashore from being drilled. Bush has granted zillions of permits for drilling in this national park that is home to over a dozen endangered species (including the Kemps Ridley Turtle).

So far we're holding the line, and only one well has been drilled.

The permits granted allow dozens more on the beach though.

Read more here:

Thanks.

That Kerry voted for all those gun control measures though, because he could have gotten all those votes from outdoorsmen pissed off at Bush for his scorched Earth environmental policies. Of course Kerry wouldn't advocate banning hunting arms, but it still looks bad.

I live in Texas, and I can tell you that in a state like this or Tennessee for example, Kerry sealed his fate (in these types of states) by not respecting the Second Amendment.

The Democratic Party is the party that best protects the Consitution and civil liberties now that the GOP has been taken over by religious extremists who don't believe in the separation of church and state, and who want to create an orwellian police state with Ashcroft at the helm. If we drop the gun control agenda, we can then reclaim the center of the country, and take back the House, Senate, and White House as in the time of LBJ.

for years. I find it just a tad suspicious that Clear Channel would all of a sudden notice it for the first time right when Stern began criticising Bush.

But your right, maybe it is just coincidence.

a different media than I have. Really, if you want to get some idea of what's really going on, I suggest reading the book What Liberal Media, by Eric Alterman.

Do you remember how the media treated Clinton during his presidency? Compare that to how they treat Bush.

Also compare how they covered Gore vs how they covered Bush during the 2000 election.

I don't know how anybody can look at all the evidence and come away with the conclusion that the media is liberal or left biased.

Anyway, if you are expecting to see the media sock it to Bush in any meaningful way, I think you are in for a rude shock.

63. Wrong
This election is FAR from over. And that is not wishful thinking on my part; the polls will go back and forth and both Kerry and Bush will go through periods during which they're pounded by the media and written off. That's just the way our system works.

And the coverage is NOT 80-90% anti-Kerry. You're just so blinded by your own partisanship that you fail to see that the other side is getting pounded and criticized too. You see this phenomenon among partisans on both sides: freepers and other right-wingers are outraged because the media is "clearly" biased against Bush and pro-Kerry, and lefties are simultaneously outraged because the media is "clearly" biased against Kerry and pro-Bush. In reality, however, the media is quite fair most of the time.

66. You've got to be kidding me.
"In reality, however, the media is quite fair most of the time."

Yes, we have such a fair media these days. A few token "liberals" who are actually independents and a shitload of Repukes towing the party line. I'd call that fair.
:eyes:

I must say-there are those who you can tell really want to let Bush have a piece of their mind, but remain fair and balanced, as journalists are supposed to be. When you stack it all up, and considering Faux News, there is STILL a rightward tilt to the news.

69. I agree...
It angers me to no end when I see some * supporter on one of these news shows without someone from our side to provide "balance."

I believe Bush will get whats coming to him.

Most people will make their decisions based on what they perceive to be best for the country. Only die hards will tow the line with people like Faux news etc.

70. Bush is toast
The day Howard Stern turned on Bush and told his millions of listeners to vote against Bush is the day Bush became toast. Not to mention that he is a liar, that everyone around him is a liar and that he is jsut plain stupid.

I saw a bumper sticker this morning:

"11/02/04--the end of an error."

You gotta love it!!!!!:kick:

71. One Caller's Opinion
I was listening to a popular political talk show on the radio when a caller said that this election is not about Dems and Repugs, nor about Liberals and Conservatives, (surely Bush is neither Conservative, Christian, nor Republican).. this one is about Americans coming together to realize that we must remove the fascist from his appoinment to OUR Whitehouse!
What is your opinion?
