Help allay my fears.

My feelings about the election change almost day to day. Some days I feel like we're going to get 70% of the vote. Other days I feel like we'll only get 30%. Today is one of the down days. I don't want to drag everyone else down, so I figure maybe some of you can help pull me up. Please address some of these specific concerns...

1. John Kerry's lack of funds
2. The media not telling the truth about Bush* or Kerry
3. October surprise
4. Other

Please give me a much-needed shot of confidence.

2. I am the same way...

some days, indeed most days down, some days up. I have never distrusted a government this much in my life. However we are united like never before, and I know I personally have converted a few rethugs. So maybe, just maybe...

3. I should probably elaborate.

I know that there are certain people who will always vote for the repubs. or Democrats. However, I'm afraid that somehow Bush will drown us out with his enormous bankroll and smear Kerry all over the place. One example is California. How can they possibly expect to win there? Money, that's how. Besides, if Bush makes a negative comment about Kerry, Kerry's response will only recieve half as much coverage because a defense is less interesting than an attack. However, Kerry's attacks won't get in the media because they won't report on a Democrat actually kicking a Republican's ass. I'm just worried that we'll be swept off the stage.

4. It isn't over until the fat lady sings

1. At the end of the month the liberal radio network "Air America" will launch

2. Wilson will release his book next month on who leaked his wife's name to the press

3. The book, "House of Bush, House of Saud" will be released

4. Kerry will annouce VP and it will be someone who will knock the socks off of everyone

5. The issues will become more and more specific and it will be evident that the current administration did nothing

7. Even a movie

coming out might help us. An article was posted on DU yesterday that said the movie, "The Day After Tomorrow", which is about the disasters following global warming, will point out the Republicans lack of attention to it.

Also the documentary, The Hunting of the President.

5. Me too! I've never felt so strongly about politics

We are at the proverbial crossroad.

Here are some of my thoughts

1.Kerry's lack of funds: This year there are many groups angry at Bush. They might not be strong supporters of Kerry, but view Bush as dangerous(he is). People like Howard Stern and Imus rage daily. No cost.

Groups like Move-on and other 527s are able to get anti-Bush ads on the air (sometimes) with out costing the Kerry campaign.

Bush outspent Gore, Gore still won the popular vote. This time, Bush is running on a record. A record even he can't trumpet.

2. Media: Other than Fox, I have noticed a slight change in the wind. The media is asking questions. However, more importantly, the people on our side are fighting back. Dean,Clark, etc are not pussyfooting around. This makes a big difference.

3. I don't think they can wait until October.

4. This is going to be a difficult race, I liken it to a rollercoaster. We are going to have to keep the proverbial eye on the prize and try to keep calm.

Not easy I know. I too have moments of deep fear and concern.

6. Some Thoughts

To allay your concerns:

1. New Coke (some of you will remember) was launched with a HUGE advertising budget. The New York Yankees do not win EVERY World Series. In short, money guarantees nothing.

2. To quote Pontius Pilate, "What is Truth?" People will believe what they want. The only truth that they will believe is what is happening to THEM, so the media only reenforces what people already believe anyway.

3. See number 2, if an October Suprise doesn't entail more jobs, cheaper gasoline or more reasonable health care costs, it will not fly.

4. Well, you could behave like some of the people here that believe there's no difference between Chimpy and Kerry and so get all your depression and anger out of the way early and go with the flow.

8. Money isn't everything...

I don't think all the ads in the world by Bush is going to change any democrats mind. I'm in Washington which is now considered a 'swing' state and I've been the ads on TV and radio and I'm sick of them already. Pro-Kerry allies have been doing anti-Bush ads here.

The point is it will come down to the economy and other matters out of our hands.

If the economy stays bad and the debt continues to rise out of control as it seems to and Kerry comes across as fiscally conservative then Kerry wins.

If we get hit with a terrorist attack here at home, I'm not sure what will happen. People might either run into Bush's arms or scream with anger at Bush and run to Kerry.

But I expect that there will be plans to slowly let out new information as things go on to keep things fresh for Kerry.

Have faith...this country can not afford another 4 years of Bush.

9. reality check . . . Bush will win in November . . .

because the Republicans control the voting machines . . . they can make the vote come out any way they want in selected precincts in key states, just enough to keep themselves in office . . . and there's absolutely no way anyone can prove that they fixed the election . . . if the Republican Congress doesn't mandate an auditable paper trail (and I see no indication that they will), we have no chance in November, imo . . .

10. Turnout for primaries is record breaking

Dems are mad as hell at Bush and determined to turn him out.

Bush has lost more jobs than any other president since Hoover.

Bush has lost on the good ole boy credibility issue and that's all he really had going for him in the first place because everyone knew he wasn't too bright.

Cheney is a drag on the ticket and he's not leaving.

When is this Wilson thing going to take off and taint the White House even further? CIA is furious.

11. Ok, I won't drag you down

I'll try to help pull you up;

Perhaps there won't be an election this year; A lot of first with Dubya. Perhaps there will be a huge terror attack done by the same bas evil people who did the last one; The Bush administration; And then he declares martial law, and rapes your sister, and throws your dad to the lions;
