Mayor Daley's had kind words for Howard Dean today
I was listening to local Chicago radio/TV personality Bob Sirott interview Mayor Daley today. The conversation turned to the Presidential race and what Daley thought of Howard Dean and "the scream".

Daley said he thought Dean was really treated unfairly by the media and that the speech was just an attempt to pump up his supporters at a rally. He said he really liked Dean and thought he is the one responsible for the Democrats coming as far as they have in the polls. He said Dean set the tone and issues in the campaign, and would have been a great candidate. He also thought Dean did a fantastic job getting new people involved in the Democratic party.

He thinks Dean could have been the nominee, but he hired some advisers that gave him terrible advice. Daley said he should have just focused on Iowa instead for trying to nationalize his campaign so early in the race. He should have parked himself in Iowa and met every Democratic activist he could.

He chuckled that in Iowa, if you can get 100 people to a caucus, you can become President.

Overall Daley was very complimentary of Dean. Daley knows his stuff. I think his analysis is spot on target.

Sorry, but I don't have a link to the interview.
