Obama gets Texas-sized endorsement
http://my.barackobama.com/page/community/post/samgrahamfelsen/CscV

Waco, Texas—Texas House Democratic Leader Jim Dunnam announced today his strong endorsement of Senator Barack Obama's candidacy for President of the United States. Dunnam released the following statement:

"It gives me great pride to endorse Barack Obama for President. The constituents I serve, and all the people of Texas, are tired of politics as usual. In Texas -- and across the rest of the country -- we want a president who will finally put doing what is right above corporate special interests and radical partisan agendas. We want change we can believe in, not the same old Washington-style promises made and promises broken.

"Texas House Democrats are fighting hard to improve our public schools and bring health coverage to the uninsured. With Barack Obama as president, we will have a remarkable ally in achieving those vital goals and many more."

Texas State Representative Jim Dunnam first rose to national prominence after leading Texas House Democrats' historic trip to Ardmore, Oklahoma to block Tom DeLay's illegal redistricting scheme in 2003. Since then, Dunnam has been a leader in the fight to improve Texas' public schools and to fully fund the Children's Health Insurance Program. In 2007, Dunnam helped lead a bipartisan majority of Texas House Members who stood up to Speaker Tom Craddick's ultra-partisan, divisive rule and claims of "absolute" authority over the House. Prior to his endorsement of Barack Obama, Dunnam had endorsed former Sen. John Edwards for the Democratic nomination in 2008.

12. He sure helped. Or are you saying Obama is such a great candidate that he would have made up that
lead anyway? Can't have it both ways.

15. I'm saying the impact of any endorsement - and this endorsement in particular - is very limited.
Kennedy, a much more dominant figure than this guy, could not hand the state to Obama. And this endorsement certainly won't either.

And have you run out of names to call?

He speaks the truth. If Hillary can't get the very conservative Democrats of Waco, she's in deep, deep Billshit.

8. What are the odds he fights her to a draw
in Texas? Imo, a draw is the same as a win and knocks her out of the race.

18. Obama is going to win Texas.
He's going to obliterate her in the big cities.

He'll win blacks, who will make up about 25% of the Democratic primary voters, by over 60%.

He will probably win whites, by maybe 5 points.

He will likely split the Hispanic vote with Hillary, as she gets the older folks and he gets the younger folks. It's a young voting constituency, and the under 30 Hispanics will vote Obama.

Hillary's strength is older white voters, and she's weaker among them in Texas than in most states.

It could be close, but I think Obama will win by 5-15 points.

20. But he doesn't have to win outright -- just break even.
And to prevent that, Billary has to win by over 60% in each district.

Shit, I lived there for 9 years and don't know him.....I am just sure the average, unaware voter won't know him either.

Now Henry Cisneros....THAT is a Texas-sized endorsement....who got his?
