"Where have all the "Flowers Gone...Long Time Passing?" Hillary Supporters?
Edited on Wed Feb-13-08 09:08 PM by KoKo01
I remember doing battle with poster "Wyldwolf" and others.."tooth and claw to death" over Hillary and her candidacy. NOW when we NEED YOU.... Where HAVE YOU GONE?

There's only about three Hillary Supporters Left here posting.

I don't have a "person in this race." I can't vote until May...I'm hoping the race between Hillary and Obama goes on until Convention...because it seems the MOST DEMOCRATIC.

So...I'm still posting stuff about each one...Positive or Negative....Just so you know where I'm coming from.

BUT...WHERE ARE those early Hillary Supporters? Did they get "A Ticket to Ride"...and cut out?"

edited...for gross typo's, etc.

I've recently put some long time DUers on "ignore" for just that sort of thing.

I don't understand why being an Obama supporter requires one to attack Hillary Clinton 24/7.

And behave like a complete asshole.

67. Not a Hillary supporter, but I don't like when people come on threads to do that.
Someone starts a positive thread about Clinton or Obama,
and opponents don't just disagree, they spam the thread with
anti-candidate rhetoric as if they had a personal stake in
convincing DUers to hate Clinton or Obama.

8. Intimidated, I'm thinking...
The vitriol directed at Hillary supporters here is phenomenal. This whole time has been very demoralizing. I was an Edwards supporter, but went with Hillary because I don't see electability being an issue against McCain for ANYONE, I like her health care plan better than Obama's (although not as much as I'd like to) and I think Hillary simply can get more things done than Obama can with his lack of experience.

That said, many people are being attacked with the greatest venom I've ever seen, along with lifelong Democrats who've spent a lifetime in office standing up for civil rights, but who happen to support her, most recently Ed Rendell....

The earth is scorched, but I'll vote for him. He won't need any money to win against McCain, but this whole cycle has grossly turned me off.

political boards usually start to thin out as a candidate gets chosen. I'm sure that most are still here, but are just taking a breather. There won't be much good news for the Hillary campaign for the next few weeks.

I respect her privacy and don't want to discuss the details.

Now that I'm back on DU, I've been wondering where she is. She stayed in GD for the most part, and I haven't been there much. Now you've got me worried. Maybe she still checks her messages, you might try sending her a PM.

You know, I was critical of Edwards at times, but when SB started a thread about him, I could never bring myself to enter into the discussion and say anything negative about my former Senator.

SB was a feisty crusader whose heart was/is always in the right place--- a person with a beautiful soul.

I do remember reading about some of her health problems.

27. We're all still here. It's not over yet. Texas and Ohio, here She comes!
YES SHE CAN - be the nominee. Chances are still strong that she'll be the choice, the cultists and their ceremonies will melt away, and we shall scrub the bloodstains from the temple where so many good Democrats were sacrificed to their strange new bloodthirsty god.

They have sacrificed Joe Wilson, John Edwards, RFK Jr. and others of the great and the good in our Party. When the knowns are finished with, it will be the unknowns - the people, us - who will shuffle forward, each in our place, in the long line of the condemned. Old people, and the boomer generation? To the altar! Gay people? Prepare to "lose your hearts" to Obama (when they're ripped still beating from you.) If this infernal cult machine is not stopped, even the working classes themselves will find themselves dragged to the altar -- think about it, during the general election, when polls start showing Obama weakness in places like Ohio and Pennsylvania, and a stubborn reluctance of a too-large slice of the downscale demographic to commit to him, who can doubt that Obama and his minions would not hesitate to sacrifice them to his "post-partisan" imagery? It's not about the Democratic Party or the Republican Party, it's about the Party of Obama!

She will not let this happen.

Obama and the Obamatrons? They Shall Not Pass.

29. What's the point?
I mean, I understand your frustration -- believe me, I do -- but the Obama supporters are getting what they wanted: they outnumber us, they shout us down, and many of us are leaving DU to them. I'm still here only because I've set a date for leaving: the day Obama officially gets the nomination.

Actually, it will probably be before then. I don't see much of anything to talk about anymore. Certainly nothing anything new, anyway; it's all recycled old conflicts that will never be resolved, and I'm past weary of being told I'm a stupid, racist idiot whose opinion is crap because I'm old / gay / white / a woman / whatever.

Sometimes a person just has to move on. And I don't mean "MoveOn."

53. For the first time ever
A presidential candidate came to Robstown, Tx today.

Robstown is 16 miles from Corpus Christi, in S Texas. We are 60% Hispanic; 1/3 of our children have NO health insurance whatsoever; 70% of our children qualify for free or reduced school meals.

Hillary came to Robstown today--in the middle of the day, in the middle of the week, when we are all at work. Conventional wisdom said we couldn't get more than 1500 people to a campaign rally on a work day. There were over 7000 people there, and they turned away over 1000 others, because security was overwhelmed by the sheer number of people who came to see Hillary Clinton. People began to line up at 6 am, and by the time the doors opened, the line was was almost half a mile long.

People cheered, and danced in the aisles, and stood on their chairs to see Hillary.

I don't know if she will win the nomination, but today, Hillary gave thousands of people in S Texas hope. My 13 year old son claimed a place 10 feet from the stage and stood there for FOUR HOURS--and said, "I will be a Democrat until the day I die."

Today was a very good day for me--win or lose, I feel like there is a candidate for President who SAW me, and who was concerned about my life.

Thank you, Senator Clinton, for visiting my little corner of the world.

68.  I see nearly identical health care plans, for one.
That's a huge issue for me. I also trust Clinton to fight more for health care than Obama, because she has a long history in that regard. It's near and dear to her heart. I think she's learned a lot about the industry and knows the issue inside and out. She's also closer to Edwards on trade, another huge issue when you're talking about the "Two Americas".

Clinton wasn't my first choice, but I was forced to chose between her and Obama. I weighed a lot of things and researched them both extensively. Bottom line, I found that her platform most closely matched Edwards on key points.

A lot of Edwards supporters have switched to Clinton.

Edited on Wed Feb-13-08 10:14 PM by aquarius dawning
and what the likelihood of me showing up to vote on election day was. I told her Hillary Clinton before she even named anyone and that it was a 100% probability that I would show up to vote. Ted Strickland is endorsing her and so is John Glenn. These people are pretty popular here in Ohio. She very well may pull off a win here in Ohio; although it's not guaranteed. I sent her another $50 tonight as a show of continued support. anyone care to match me?

56. They realized that their candidate has lost.
She can't catch up now without a miracle, or without stealing the election.

57. It's not over yet...and it doesn't help to keep going at folks who are still supporting
Edited on Wed Feb-13-08 10:51 PM by KoKo01
one, or the other, of the last two candidates for Dems out there. We need to think of both candidates. There will be positive and negative news about them...but making it into "My Team against Theirs...what good does that do?

We are all in this together...it's bigger than which Sports Team Favorite wins. This is about Bush and the Shredding of the Constitution, Our Economy, Jobs, Lives, our Kids and Grandkids Lives...our Future.

It's too important not to hope that both stay in until the Convention. Let's give both sides their chance. I know it sounds dumb to those who want it all "wrapped up now" in a neat package. But what good does that do? It just gives more time for the RW to Attack! The longer we look at both our candidates the better for us parsing out the issues that either might fail or be champions of for us Dems. Why "wrap it up" and let the RW "SwiftBoaters" and the rest of their Evil Doers come out early and start to attack.

There are many of us who still don't know whom to support because our Primaries are LATE... Give us a BREAK ...let's keep focused on the strengths and weaknesses of both Hillary and Obama and keep it civil... Can't we do that?

Your overconfidence is amusing.

70. Well, I'm still here
I pretty much stay out of the flamefests, although sometimes I can't resist tossing a grenade into a thread. But for the most part, I just read GD-P and add people to my Ignore List.

But in real life I'm trying to get ready for running my precinct caucus on March 4. This is my first time as precinct chair and wouldn't it be my luck that this would be the first time in a generation that Texas mattered.
