POLL: Obama 46, McCain 40 ... vs. ... Hillary 42, McCain 46
<SNIP>

In general election match-ups, Obama leads John McCain 46% to 40% while McCain leads Clinton 46% to 42% (see recent daily results). Today, Rasmussen Reports will begin releasing state-by-state polling of these general election match-ups. At 3:00 p.m. Eastern, data will be released from New Hampshire. At 4:00 p.m. Eastern, the latest results from Colorado will be released. At 5:00 p.m. Eastern, Missouri general election results will be released. Rasmussen Reports analysis looks at the question of which Democrat might fare better against McCain in the general election. Rasmussen Reports will begin releasing state-by-state general election polls later this week.

In addition to the Presidential match-ups, Rasmussen Reports will release results on the Missouri Governor’s race today at 6:00 p.m.

Obama is the most popular candidate at the moment, viewed favorably by 54% and unfavorably by 43%. Clinton is viewed favorably by 47% of Likely Voters nationwide, unfavorably by 50%. McCain’s is viewed favorably by 48% and unfavorably by 49%. Opinions about Clinton are more strongly held than opinions about either Obama or McCain.

2. okay, NOW Barack's supporters start heralding Polls
when, just weeks ago, everyone was reminded how Polls don't matter, can quickly change and are just tools for the MSM to tell us how to vote.

Sheesh. :eyes:

4. Sheesh yourself.
When did I ever say polls don't matter. They are what they are...a snapshot in time.

Don't be bitter.

6. So both HRC AND McCain have higher negatives than positives, while Obama nets 11% positive
That really says a lot about the mood of the country as a whole, in contrast to the cheerleading and "mania" of rallies and on the DU board.

This country needs (for the first time in a VERY long time) a president that people (including authentic progressives) can admire, so that people will at least see enough possibility to become politically active.

10. yeah, the one Barack has voted to fund time and time again
one speech in the State Legislature does not an anti-war candidate make. You actually gotta have the votes to back up the rhetoric and, on that, Barack fails ... not surprisingly.

17. This will be 2004 all over again if Hillary wins.
Trying to make the claim she is now against the war after voting to start it will just play into the GOP's hands. Obama can make a MUCH better case for being against the war.

Obama more proficient in that particular category.

because to imply that the Iraq war won't be a big part of the broader national security conversation is willful ignorance on your part.

You refuse to back it up.

Then you say I'm dodging something?

I don't think most Americans consider McCain strong on national security. Republicans allowed the worst terrorist attack in US history to occur on Bush's watch. Maybe those over the age of 70 will agree with you.

Please explain! I will be awaiting the explanation of how McCain's policies make this nation more secure.

If you think the republicans keep us safer, it really says a lot more about you.

22. America was not built on hope
it was built on the backs of native americans, slaves, indentured servants and industry. The Founding founders didn't use "hope" to drive out the Brits either.

With that said, hope is a good thing, but its not the only thing.
