Blue states have lower crime rates than red
It just occured to me - while reading this article, that generally the Red (Repuglican) states have higher crime rates than blue (democratic) states. Can we generalize and say that Rethugs are more violent than Democrats?

Best Large Cities for Crime (More than 500,000 pop.)
New Jersey boasts three of the nation's safest and most secure cities.

1. Nassau-Suffolk, NY* BLUE
Nassau-Suffolk has the second-lowest overall crime rate in the nation, thanks to extremely low violent and property crime rates.

2. Middlesex-Somerset-Hunterdon, NJ BLUE
The Middlesex-Somerset-Hunterdon area has one of the lowest murder rates in the nation, in addition to a very low rate of larceny.

3. Ventura, CA BLUE
Ventura has a very low property crime rate and one of the lowest larceny rates in the country.

4. Monmouth-Ocean, NJ BLUE
Monmouth-Ocean has one of the lowest auto theft rates in the country and an overall low rate of property crime.

5. Bergen-Passaic, NJ BLUE
Bergen-Passaic has especially low rates of forcible rape and larceny.

Worst Large Cities for Crime
Although Arizona has two of the most crime-ridden cities in the nation, their violent crime rates are relatively low.

1. Tucson, AZ RED
Tucson has one of the highest property crime rates in the country, especially larceny. On the bright side, Tucson has a low murder rate.

2. Memphis, TN-AR-MS* RED
Residents of Memphis contend with the nation's second-highest violent crime rate. In addition, the rate of robbery and burglary are among the nation's highest.

3. Miami, FL RED
Miami's violent crime rate is the highest in the nation, with especially high incidences of robbery and assault. Thankfully, the murder rate is relatively low.

4. Phoenix-Mesa, AZ RED
Phoenix-Mesa has one of the highest rates of auto theft in the nation.

5. Little Rock-North Little Rock, AR RED
The Little Rock area has a high rate of property crime, especially larceny.

1. Look up divorce rates, poverty,
death rates, money spent on education. I just bet that one would find the same correlation.

6. Yep. That was my first thought as well. It should closely
correlate with all the factors you mentioned.

2. Can not be, guns keep crime down. I have heard it a million times.
Or maybe it is they just take after their leaders and they are all crooks. Would the blue states be in to sex?

3. There is far more crime in rural areas than most people realize.
Crime is not an "urban problem."

4. Many red-staters have terrible problems, and are exploited,
unfortunately, for political gain by the divisiveness encouraged by the Bushites. I think, for example, that Dean was not so far off base --although he may have painted with too broad a brush -- when he called on Southerners to vote on issues other than God, guns and gays. Many red-staters vote consistently against their own economic interests, and support candidates who oppose policies that would bring them better health care, and better education for their children.

7. Most of those red cities vote Democratic
So I don't see the corrolation. In fact, most medium to large cities vote Dem.

8. And Nassau-Suffolk, Long Island
isn't a city at all, but a bunch of bedroom suburban communities. They've traditionally been one of the most Republican areas in the country, although that's apparently changed in the last few years.

9. Dems to deal with the higher crime in Republican states!
What a great part of the Democratic platform that would be.

Ad: Getting Republicans out of office would be a good first step in lowering your states crime rating.

...oh, I'm having too much fun. Must stop and read more.

10. It Is A Useful Attack Line, Mr. Varun
All indicators of social breakdown; poverty, divorce, crime, what have you, are worse in the states that consistently vote Republican. Those states are also leeches on the nation's fisc, by and large, draining far more dollars from the Federal Treasury than they contribute. It is clear evidence that the principles Republicans stand by, and wish to impose on the whole country as a cure for its problems, are in fact the cause of those problems, for "by their fruits ye shall know them," and where Republicans predominate people are poorer, less apt to marriage and family life, more prone to violence and crime, and reduced to dependency on government handouts mulcted from those who make a solid contribution to society....

"You can fool too many of the people too much of the time."

"LET'S GO GET THOSE BUSH BASTARDS!"
