Pelosi says she could back Obama
She damn well should. Didn't SF county, or her constiuents go for Obama?

A senior adviser to Nancy Pelosi, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, has suggested that she – along with other “party elders” – will step into the ring if they feel that Democratic hopes of winning back the White House or maintaining control over Congress are being threatened. Ms Pelosi insists that she remains neutral in the race and that her “focus is on reelecting a Democratic majority in the House of Representatives”.

9. It is not for or against Pelosi, it is that she should represent her district
The county of SF went for Obama, she should respect that

8. Pelosi's close confidante is Rep. George Miller who has endorsed
Obama, but this might be the real reason:

Pelosi and Obama

11 Jan 2008 12:14 pm

It's true that the "catfight" subtext Jay Newton-Small is trying to tease out of George Miller's decision to endorse Barack Obama seems pretty dubious. That said, it really is true that Rep. Miller is very close to Nancy Pelosi and almost certainly wouldn't do something like that without Pelosi's approval.

That said, it seems to me that the correct speculation here is that Pelosi doesn't want a president who's so close to Rahm Emanuel. Emanuel is one of Pelosi's main rivals for power in the House, was a former aide to Bill Clinton, and endorsed Hillary in the primary even though it's a major breach of political protocol to go against a home state candidate. Pelosi has, in short, perfectly good reasons to want Clinton to lose that have nothing to do with undue fear of ovaries.

14. She's playing coy.
George Miller's endorsement told us all how she felt about this election.

But she was smart not to come right out with it.

12. This is a signal that Hillary cannot fight to the death and expect superdelegates to help her out.
In fact, if she tries to fight to the death, the superdelegates could come in and put an end to it all.
