Early on, no one gave him a snowball's chance in hell. But he won the nomination.
Nobody gave him a snowball's chance of winning the General. But he did.

Bill Clinton defied the odds in 1992 by challenging us to vote for change.
And we did.

At the time Mr Clinton's experience was AG and governor of Arkansas. No
experience in conducting foreign policy, no experience nominating judges
(they're elected in AR), no experience whatsoever at the Federal level.

Now, a junior Senator from Illinois asks for the same trust. President
Clinton did pretty well for himself, and us. He would've done better if
he'd kept his damn pants on, but that's another thread.

Point is, Senator Obama is asking for the same trust we gave Governor
Clinton. He has mine.

3. Obama has considerably more foreign policy experience than Clinton did in 1992...

He's a member of the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations.

He expanded the Nunn-Lugar cooperative threat reduction concept (called "Lugar-Obama") to work with other countries in destroying anti-personnel mines and shoulder-fired missiles.

Obama was the primary sponsor of the "Democratic Republic of the Congo Relief, Security, and Democracy Promotion Act".

He introduced the "Iraq War De-Escalation Act" which, if it passed, would've withdrawn all of our troops by April 2008.

He introduced the "Obama-Hagel" bill, created to secure nuclear weapons across the world by 2012. A provision of this passed late last year.

He's done quite a bit in the short time he's been in the Senate. Quite impressive.

but I have a loyalty to the Clintons from years back and I'm not gonna change. So I'll support Hillary until or unless she loses.

For some reason foreign policy was not a big deal in 1992. ;) In 2008 it will be, like in 2004.

Clinton had over a decade's worth of experience being governor. You can't compare that to being a part-time legislator.

Bill was the upstart then, the guy who lacked the experience and resume to take on the job. He wasn't half the candidate Obama is, but we still backed him and helped him get elected.

Now, the Clintons are the pigs sitting at the farmer's dinner table, more equal than the other animals who helped effect their revolution.

This guy isn't just alot of fancy speeches. He's a guy with thorooughly progressive positions that knows how to bring people to the table to get them enacted to help out the lives of millions of people!

I don't mean this as flame bait. I, too, have my concerns about Obama's experience to deal with the greatest threat to our democracy - corporate/lobbyist influence.

However, based on the the devil I know and the devil I don't, I'd rather go for the one whose record isn't all about do-overs. Real change is not the same as do-overs.
