Edited on Mon Feb-11-08 12:42 PM by Taverner
Not just talking about Clinton and Obama, although they are clearly fatigued. The Republicans too..

Honestly, for the health of the nation, we should have a campaign free weekend where all of the candidates, and their staffs go off to Scottsdale, AZ or Las Cruces, NM to rest up...

1. Yes. I really feel concern about their health - even the Reps! They've all been amazing. nt

9. Being physically fit is key here.
Or perhaps you didn't catch that part about playing some basketball

Perhaps egocentric are some athletes but you must give them their due. Some push themselves so hard that when those inevitable pushes by others come they often deter them little from the goal they see (physically anyway). Mental (or psychological if you need) exhaustion often is less of factor and recovery quicker for those physically fit

3. A wise old Democrat once explained to me why the primary season is so grueling
The candidates have to be put to the test, like SURVIVOR: THE PRESIDENCY.

They have to be forced to go on little sleep, forced to speak a vast amount of times. It is not just a marathon, but a whole series of marathons, sometimes two per week.

It's trial by fire, trial by combat. Old School.

4. of course!
I don't know how they do it. I respect ANY candidate who puts himself through this marathon.

It has to be unbelievably exhausting.

10. I don't know how they do it, I really don't
I was thinking the other day that Obama's getting skinnier, too, and he was thin to start with.

13. Agreed. I'll bet if he wins, he'll totally blimp out before the 2010 midterms
By reelection time, it'll be like voting for Fat Albert

14. Another reason to vote for Obama: because it's about time someone
hung a basketball hoop over the West Portico!

12. The exhaustion of campaigning is probably one of the few tests of governing ability
Edited on Mon Feb-11-08 02:15 PM by Bucky
And my impression is that both of our candidates are doing quite well. But you want a leader who can handle being run a little ragged. Some weenie who takes naps daily and still has to hit the sack by 9pm is hardly fit to lead the free world.

16. It's one thing to work when you're exhausted, but to do it on national TV
day in day out without looking and sounding like your totally fried must be damn near impossible.
