Allegheny County (Pennsylvania) Democrats back Clinton
Allegheny County Democrats threw their weight behind presidential candidate Hillary Clinton on Sunday.

The New York senator won the Democratic Committee of Allegheny County's first endorsement meeting vote by nearly a 2-to-1 ratio over Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois while candidates for state and local offices campaigned for support.

"It's like a giant celebration of democracy," said state Rep. Don Walko, D-North Side, who so far appears to be uncontested in the spring primary. "It's a great opportunity for people to participate."

Democrats said their party is electrified nationwide by the neck-and-neck race between Clinton and Obama.

"The whole party is charged right now, and the charge is from the top of the ticket," said Jim Burn of Millvale, the committee's chairman.

About 1,400 of the committee's 2,700 members voted in the endorsement poll yesterday. Clinton received 837 votes to Obama's 453.

7. I'm also thinking that there a few more Democrats...
...than 2,700 in Allegheny county.

Allegheny county will likely go for Obama in the end.

8. And Pa is the Grayest State in the Country! Hey, I grew up there too!
Pa. has really been suffereing because their population keeps aging, and the college grads are moving out! The real estate market has been terrible for several years. I have relatives still living in Pgh. and they've told me of several of their friends who made their living as RE Agents and had to leave the business and find something else because the market was so bad. Of course, most parts of Ohio aren't much better!

10. Yep--I'm one of the youngsters that left after college and never came back.
Many kids I went to high school and college with did the same. The 'Burgh is a great place to be FROM, it was just too cloudy/depressing, weather-wise, for me to stay, and I wanted to see other parts of the country anyway. But yeah, the aging population there (including my parents) is a real downer, for the real estate market, taxes, etc.
