CHANGE
“For years I labored with the idea of reforming the existing institutions of society, a little change here, a little change there. Now I feel quite differently. I think you’ve got to have a reconstruction of the entire society...a radical redistribution of political and economic power.”

- Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., May 1967

This is not the sort of CHANGE we will hear from Hillary.

This is not the sort of CHANGE we will hear from Obama.

What they speak of is hollow. It is marketing. It is the mantra of surveys and research groups.

You now have swallowed it. Have internalized this. Just the word but not the reality.

You are embracing a slogan. Nothing more.

1. Personally, I'm Embracing Two Really Strong Democratic Candidates, Each Of Which I'm Proud Of.

4. Immediate withdrawal
of all US troops who are illegally occupying Iraq.

For starters.

Are you for that?

It's not about me.

Change in the appearances and techniques of US intervention is not meaningful wouldn't you say?

3. Yes it exactly is
Which is exactly what he said in Reno, that we'd been on a trajectory brought in by Reagan and that he wants to put the country on a completely new trajectory, a complete radical redistribution that gains respect for progressive values.

10. You can't quantify transformational change
It's his belief in change from the bottom up. It's his world view. It's the trust he engenders. It's his willingness to respect groups that Democrats have traditionally sneered at. Put it all together, and that's transformational change. The country buys into co-operative progressive values and that's the image we project in the world.

11. Again
just give me sometihng rational and specific.

You are using vague generalities. You haven't really said anything.

12. But you would minimize specific change
and say that's just a little thing here or a little thing there. I'm sorry your whole anarchy thing didn't work out for you. You can enjoy the fruits of the 'revolution' just the same. Health care that everybody can afford to pay for. The climate crisis resolved. A peaceful and respectful foreign policy. College for everyone. Hope.

13. Okay so specifically
How is it Obama plans to resolve the climate crisis?

His health care plan BTW is awful. It has no place in progressive politics. That's why the insurance companies love it.

What about Obama's plan to ADD to the US military in both manpower and finances?

How is that CHANGE?

14. See, I told you that's what you'd do
I live in a state with subsidized insurance and can see a doctor because of it. It works. Changing the military to have traditional troops, counter-terrorist troops, and peacekeepers, is definite change. Again, sorry your whole anarchy thing didn't work out for you. Your way isn't the only way. The rest of the country knows it.

5. Never underestimate the power of words.
They have led nations into war, and hearts into neverending love.

6. Why not let one of them get elected first
Then we'll see what happens.

8. That's not wise
That is to exclude analysis and historical information. That is blind faith. Not healthy in the world of power politics.

Easy to see how the American electorate is so easily led.

9. Our choices are Clinton and Obama
Unless you think McCain would be better at "change" than either of these two, I'd say that's what we've got this time around.
