Yesterday I voted for the person that I thought was the best possible president in the Democratic field. I am very happy about my vote.
However, the primary season is now over for me and it is time to work as hard as I can to get rid of Bush; that is why I gave money to Kerry today.
Kerry might not have got my vote in March, but he will in November. Kerry is a smart, compassionate and honorable man and I will be proud to call him president. I do believe that he will work on the issues on which Dean ran. I think he will improve health care; I think he will fix the tax system; I think he will work to protect the rights of workers; I think he will work to make corporations responsible for their actions; I think he will work to improve environmental standards; I think he will work to improve the rights of homosexuals and minorities; and I think he will remember that he has a liberal base.
I know there has been a great divide on this board between Kerry and Dean folks. I do hope that I have not added to it at anytime over the past year and I am sorry if I did. To those who also voted for Dean, I believe that it is time to bring our energy, our time and our issues to the Kerry campaign. To those who voted for Kerry, I do hope you will welcome us. To those who supported other candidates, all I can say is that I am proud of each Democratic that stood up and asked for the nomination. With Kucinich, Edwards, Braun, Clark and everyone else, we proved that the party of the people is not dead. Each candidate put forward important issues and made our party stronger because of it.
I am sorry to see the primary season come to a close because I think it has been the best thing to happen to our party in a long time, but it is now time to move forward and make Kerry our next president.
I look forward to working with all of you over the next eight months to make this happen and I encourage all of you to make a donation to the Kerry campaign.
