Poll question: Who is more liberal?
I wonder how many of the people whining about Kerry voted for Gore. Quite ironic considering Gore used to be a southern conservative Democrat opposed to abortion and gay rights. While his record improved, he was still rather conservative as a senator and I believe the more conservative of Tenneesee's two Democratic senators. He was one of the few Democrats to vote to authorize the first Gulf War, and while he may have spoken out against the Patriot Act now, I doubt he would've voted against it had he still been a senator in the post-9/11 month.

might I also add Kerry's wife isn't a hardcore censorship lover with connections to the PMRC.

I actually find it even more hilarious when someone said if the right wingnuts were right and Hillary was Kerry's VP voting for him would be easier, even though Hillary also voted for the Patriot Act, IWR, No Child Left Behind and everything people bash Kerry for, and there's not a single issue Hillary is to the left of Kerry on. I suspect some people like to prop up heroes while nitpicking to bash Kerry.

1. What's more important...why is liberal a dirty word in the USA?
In Canada our governing party calls themselves the "Liberal Party" of Canada....We have also been governed by the Conservative Party...but not as often, I must admit...Why is liberal a dirty word down there...Really...I'm puzzled...Has anyone looked up the meaning of the word liberal....It defines all good things...I don't get it!

2. It has been demonized to the point where it means nothing in this country
Big government, weak defense, raising taxes, inflating the budget, et al is the new derogatory meaning. Of course, Bush has done almost all these things himself.

3. What's important is what they have done since the Coup of 12/12/2000
Gore shouldn't have given in to the Supreme Court tyranny, but after that, he's been dead on in everything he has said about the fraudministration and their fucked up agenda.

Meanwhile, Kerry has voted FOR that fucked up agenda. Repeatedly.

What either of them did in the 70's or the 80's doesn't mean shit today. It comes down to who enabled an unelected dictator to have more power than most elected presidents. Gore did it once, by throwing in the towel, but arguably he had no options left. Kerry had a choice. He chose political expediency over the best interests of the American people.

On edit: Not that I'm that only one that criticizes Kerry.
