Since we're playing the prospective VP game...
Who, in your opinion, would Dean have picked? Who would Edwards have picked? Who would Clark have picked?

Feel free to jump on with potential VP picks of any candidate I haven't named. Feel free, also, to avoid the compulsion to beat the crap out of each other as you answer. :)

1. Interesting question...
...of course, we can only speculate about it.

Dean:

He would have picked Clark because he wanted Clark from the beginning. Clark would have definitely said 'no', so I think his second choice would have been a female. Maybe from Louisiana. Maybe Tom Harkin.

Edwards:

Rockefeller

Clark:

John Kerry, MA
Joe Biden, DE

5. This is a fun question...
Dean-Clark (the anti-war outsider ticket)
Clark-Clinton (feed the conspiracy!)
Edwards-Clark (The South rises again!)
Lieberman-Gore (remember the chads!)
Gephardt-Graham (Only need to campaign in MO and FL)
Sharpton-Richardson (We got your minorities right here)
Kucinich-Feingold (Vote for us because we voted against Iraq and the Patriot Act)

6. speculation
but Dean would have gone for Graham or Clark. Clark would have probably gone with Kerry or Leahy. Edwards would have likely gone with a northerner. I think Landreau would be a great choice for just about anyone.

14. clark might have picked a woman
dean would probably pick bob graham because he would be looking for a southerner with foreign policy experience. and maybe wes clark.

edwards said he would probably pick john kerry everytime he was asked, but he might have been just saying it because it was a safe answer and not really meant it.

clark is the toughest to figure out because he already has the things people see as an advantage such as being from the south and having foreign policy experience. i would say he would have picked a woman because of this. he might have seen himself as having enough strength that all the negatives that might be seen in picking a woman would not be a factor. when asked about female role models he said dianne feinstein so i guess he would have picked her.

Edited on Wed Mar-10-04 03:25 PM by absyntheNsugar
While at the FL Debates. Now this may have just been a overture to the locals, but I don't think so.

My guess is Edwards would have chosen Kerry, and Clark would have chosen Dean.

But who knows? I'm no veepothesizer! I thought Gore would have chosen Kerry in 2000...

20. I think that Clark would have picked someone like Elliot Spitzer
of NYS. Hard driving, hard headed public servant who delights in holding the powerful to the same standards the rest of us are held to.

Other than that, I can't imagine. There was talk of a Clark/Hillary ticket but that is beyond belief.

What I would have expected of Clark would be someone able to get things done and work as an Assistant President rather than just a Vice President. Of course, now we're starting to wander into Co-Consuls here but this country does seem to be tracking Rome so maybe that wouldn't be totally out of line.

Certainly, Bush seems to be okay with the "dictator for life" concept.

31. Non white, Non male! It's time to open the door to the majority!
Males are the minority! When you place women and people of color together, you have a vast majority! So, a woman, a person of color, or a woman of color would be my choice! Let's move out of the 1800's!
