Progressive media figures get canned, Rather, Donahue, Shuster
when they err.

Republican cheerleaders can be blatantly offensive, make a fake apology and continue to spin with a wink and a nod.

e-mail them and tell hem to reinstate Shuster:

22. Should the totality of Shuster's journalistic career be boiled down to one stupid comment?
Come on.

Shuster was the ONLY cable news investigative journalist to report on the early days of Plame, his reports drove other media to cover it and that's only one story that he pursued.

He covered Delay's crimes, while Fox Whistled and CNN covered missing white chicks.

2. Thanks for the reminder.
I am emailing again and asking them to fire Shuster.
He (as does the rest of the MSNBC brat pack) has a long history of frat boy locker room behavior.
How you can call him a "progressive media figure" is beyond me.

4. That may explain why their Hillary bashing has gone...
beyond what Fox "News" has done.

The "frat boy locker room behavior" element, that is.

12. Russert and Matthews should have been fired for misbehavior
while misconducting the debates.

7. Shuster was integral in uncovering the Plame scandal on MSNBC
HE went after Rove and Company with nightly exposes, did he screw up with Chelsea, yes.

But lets not throw one of the few investigative journlists left on TV out with the bath water.

9. I still don't know what that has to do with being "progressive"
He is only good because everyone else is so bad.

In case you have not noticed, he has also changed quite a bit in the past several months and would probably NOT
do the type of investigative journalism as he did in the Plame case anymore.

21. Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck fan, are you?
This episode has craven political opportunism by the Clintons written all over it...they will take out anyone in their path.

It's not like there's an abundance of half-decent media hacks that don't spew right-wing tripe all the time. I don't have any hero worship for Shuster but he beats the rest of them.

If you reply to me I won't see it, I've decided it's time to clean up this board by expanding my ignore list.

33. a suspension is not throwing away anyone. also your pretending that he got fired
because he revealed something of importance to the left. which is totally not true. sexism should be punished. i am glad he was.

But taken off the air? Glenn Beck says far, far more offensive things every single day. This doesn't make sense.

28. Shuster used poor judgment
Mind you, it wasn't as obvious a slam as Imus gave months ago, but it was blatant enough. The suspension was justified, IMHO. Too bad they don't give Chimp-lovin' Tweety the smackdown when he runs his mouth, which he does waaaay too often. He's the ultimate pig.

32. Back in the sane days of DU not many would have
supported and minimized a statement like that even if it came from the ghost of JFK himself. he screwed up he has to pay. What's the big damn deal? Maybe he shouldn't blindly spew crap to make 1 candidate seem unseemly. Or he could just get on bended knee and kiss St. Obama's ring and then we would really know how he feels.
