Kerry Flip-Flop Attack Destroyed
God, this is beautiful. We’d do well to memorize the list below.

Via Tom Tomorrow.

I know you are but what am I?

"My opponent clearly has strong beliefs -- they just don't last very long."

George W. Bush
Remarks at Fundraising Lunch
March 8, 2004

Oh, yes. Well. Here's a post from one of Kos's readers to knock that softball right out of the park:

Bush is against campaign finance reform; then he's for it. * Bush is against a Homeland Security Department; then he's for it. * Bush is against a 9/11 commission; then he's for it. * Bush is against an Iraq WMD investigation; then he's for it. * Bush is against nation building; then he's for it. * Bush is against deficits; then he's for them. * Bush is for free trade; then he's for tariffs on steel; then he's against them again. * Bush is against the U.S. taking a role in the Israeli Palestinian conflict; then he pushes for a "road map" and a Palestinian State. * Bush is for states right to decide on gay marriage, then he is for changing the constitution. * Bush first says he'll provide money for first responders (fire, police, emergency), then he doesn't. * Bush first says that 'help is on the way' to the military ... then he cuts benefits * Bush-"The most important thing is for us to find Osama bin Laden. Bush-"I don't know where he is. I have no idea and I really don't care. * Bush claims to be in favor of the environment and then secretly starts drilling on Padre Island. * Bush talks about helping education and increases mandates while cutting funding. * Bush first says the U.S. won't negotiate with North Korea. Now he will * Bush goes to Bob Jones University. Then say's he shouldn't have. * Bush said he would demand a U.N. Security Council vote on whether to sanction military action against Iraq. Later Bush announced he would not call for a vote * Bush said the "mission accomplished" banner was put up by the sailors. Bush later admits it was his advance team. * Bush was for fingerprinting and photographing Mexicans who enter the US. Bush after meeting with Pres. Fox, he's against it.

1. At least 2 or 3 more and two are just today's news....
1) Was for changing the rules on wetland protection until Ducks Unlimited said they wouldn't share a duck blind with him...now won't change the rules

2) Was opposed to the extension of 9-11 Commission, then decided they could have 2 more months

3) Agreed to spend one hour with 9-11 Commission members (just 2) and just changed his position today.

2. Yeah, it's all over the web...WE the bloggers, DU etc are the oppo
research, putting together the info that the reporters have been too lazy to research. Just like that guy last week on DU that found the July 12 press gaggle that was subpoened for the Plame investigation.

"My opponent clearly has strong beliefs -- they just don't last very long."
George W. Bush
Remarks at Fundraising Lunch
March 8, 2004

…and Bush never waffled, except of course on the following occasions:

Bush is against campaign finance reform; then he's for it.

Bush is against a Homeland Security Department; then he's for it.

Bush is against a 9/11 commission; then he's for it. (But will only sit in front of two commissioners and only for an hour. Clinton and Gore have volunteered unlimited time to testify in front of the whole commission.)

Bush is against an Iraq WMD investigation; then he's for it.

Bush is against nation building; then he's for it.

Bush is against deficits; then he's for them.

Bush is for free trade; then he's for tariffs on steel; then he's
against them again.

Bush is against the US taking a role in the Israeli Palestinian conflict; then he pushes for a "road map" and a Palestinian State.

Bush is for states right to decide on gay marriage, then he is for changing the constitution.

Bush first says he'll provide money for first responders (fire, police, emergency), then he doesn't.

Bush first says that 'help is on the way' to the military ... then he cuts benefits

Bush-"The most important thing is for us to find Osama bin Laden. Bush-"I don't know where he is. I have no idea and I really don't care."

Bush claims to be in favor of the environment and then secretly starts drilling on Padre Island.

Bush talks about helping education and increases mandates while cutting funding.

Bush first says the US won't negotiate with North Korea. Now he will

Bush goes to Bob Jones University. Then says he shouldn't have.

Bush said he would demand a UN Security Council vote on whether to sanction military action against Iraq. Later Bush announced he would not call for a vote

Bush said the "mission accomplished" banner was put up by the sailors. Bush later admits it was his advance team.

Bush was for fingerprinting and photographing Mexicans who enter the US. Bush after meeting with President Fox, he's against it.

Should keep this list immeidately available whenever debating someone who pulls the old "Kerry's a flip flopper" card.

6. Why doen't the Kerry campaign put this out?
They've been pretty good at rapid response, but since this is 1 of Bush's major attack pts on Kerry, he should turn it around!

10. No, it won't be devastating to Bush, unless...
it is repeated a thousand times by the news media, campaign commercials, columnists, commentators and political operatives. That is why the Republicans are so effective at using absolute tripe and getting it to penetrate the fog of partial consciousness that is the swing voter. They'll grasp it eventually and use it as their guideline for making an "informed decision."

13. Excellent list -- here's what Clark to Woodruff just today:
Bold face for the lines I liked best. ;)

WOODRUFF: Is John Kerry, though, General Clark, vulnerable, at least on this point that the Bush campaign is already hammering away, and that is his flip-flops, that he takes one position on NAFTA and then says, well, we need to work NAFTA out, he votes for No Child Left Behind and then he turns around and says it isn't working, and Iraq, and so on and so on?

CLARK: I don't think John is vulnerable on this, and I'll tell you why. Because he's got a track record of over 20 years in the Senate. He's weighed in on all of these important issues.

He was a senator when the president was running a baseball team. So he's got a much longer record of engagement in public issues than President Bush has. And those issues change over time.

No Child Left Behind, for example, may have looked good conceptually. But it hasn't been funded. It's short $8 billion to $9 billion. If it were funded, the opinions of No Child Left Behind might be somewhat different. It still has some flaws in it, but it also is under-funded.

So I think that when you look behind it, what you see in John Kerry is a man who looks at the issues. He's pragmatic about it, he weighs both sides of the argument.

I think the American people are looking for someone who is a problem solver. Not someone who comes into office with an ideological template to try to stamp out a series of policies regardless of where the facts and the problems are.

17. Strike two, Georgie!
Edited on Tue Mar-09-04 11:44 PM by rocknation
Your 9/11 ads started off your campaign with a nice dull thud despite your insistence that it was a handful of overwrought widows who were doing all the protesting. Now your "Kerry the flip-flopper" strategy is in the toilet, because the most cursory review of your own activities showed that you're equally guilty. And your accusing anti-outsourcers of being isolationists was like sprinking sugar on top. Keep on bringing it on, Georgie--you're well on your way to making Ronald Reagan look lucid!

Care to refute anything on that list?

Concerning that 15 yr old girl rumor they are soooooo worried about. I know it's something they would do, but all's fair in love and war. Besides, Larry Flynt says he's going to release the story in July. Nothing is to mean to do to Bush as far as Im concerned.
