Obama, Clinton each get 36 Missouri delegates, party decides
The state’s Democratic Party announced this afternoon that each candidate will receive 36 delegates despite Obama winning the popular vote by 1 percentage point over Clinton.

The 16 remaining delegates are unelected super-delegates.

Out of the 88 total delegates, 25 are awarded based on the percentage of votes each candidate gets statewide.

By winning the statewide vote 49 percent to 48 percent, Obama received 13 delegates to 12 for Clinton.

But in the congressional district results, where Clinton took almost every county in the state except those in the large urban areas, Clinton won 24 delegates to 23 for Clinton.

In the 7th District, Obama and Clinton each received two of the four total delegates.

2. It's called the Scalia maneuver
Wait until the party hacks decide the nomination, the public be damned.

8. What are you talking about? The vast majority of Obama supporters are expecting him to win...
...without the popular vote of all people.

I personally wish we could just do some direct democracy and be done with it, but oh no, we need representational democracy for the elites.

3. Read it again.
"By winning the statewide vote 49 percent to 48 percent, Obama received 13 delegates to 12 for Clinton."

That's fair.

6. He did
he got one extra delegate for winning the popular vote.

She got one extra delegate for winning the congressional districts, so they balance out.

13. such is the proportional awarding of delegates.
mr. obama won alabama by 14% and more than 75,000 votes and ended up with one less delegate awarded.

14. he gets bragging rights
for winning the state, and as many delegates at Clinton
In Nevada, she got bragging rights, he got more delegates.

I can live with the process.

Whoever wins New Mexico won't get more delegates either

21. Hillary won NH, Nevada
and either got the same amount as (NH) or less (NV) than Obama.

24. Where were you when the Nevada delegates got awarded?
Were you one of those who were claiming that Obama "won" Nevada because he got one more delegate there than Clinton even though Clinton won the popular vote by 6%? If you weren't a whole lot of other Obama supporters were and no Obama supporter implied there was anything fishy about that.

The double standards around this place are amazing.

There was no special "decision" to split the delegates evenly. That is how they got divided based on the rules put in place for that election.

7. Sounds like a few Hillary supporters were in the loop making that decision
This could be a prelude to the 3 Hillary supporters sitting on the panel Dean expects to arbitrate the Mi and Fl delegate issue.

Why bother voting if she can stack the deck in her favor?

12. both benefited from party rules there
Obama with the 'popular vote win' allocation and Clinton with the 'congressional district win" allocation

18. What are you talking about??? this seems pretty clear cut
This is a normal breakdown - similar to Nevada, only in this case Hillary had the majority of the regions and Obama had the popular vote. I just don't get the conspiracy speak here...

19. I as a person who voted in Missouri for Obama am not bothered by this
The vote spread between them was about 10,000 more on the Obama side.
I watched the returns all night..Hillary was ahead most of the night before a few really big urban areas were counted.
It was really close.
If Clinton received more delegates than Obama I would be pissed.
It is what it is..

23. Methinks this title is a tad misleading
The party "decides" makes it sound arbitrary. All they decided here was that based on the votes, each candidate would get 36 delegates. "Determined" may be a better word to use here. Even if you objected the idea of district based allocation, state wide only allocation would have resulted in the same thing.

25. Obama by .5
In NV Obama won 1 more delegate, and lost the popular.
In MO Obama tied the delegates and won the popular vote.

So overall that's 1/2 a win :)
