Obama's not a cult leader. He will give college students $4K every year in exchange for community
service and he will increase the minimum wage every year to keep up with rising costs. Will Hillary do these things?

1. He will index minimum wage
after making it a living wage, to clarify that point. And, to apply for college money you just check a box on your tax return.

23. You can't even describe Obama's plan correctly so how can you make that assessment?
Obama doesn't tie the $4K to community service, he offers it as a tax credit to everyone.

(HIllary offers a $3.5K tax credit)

Both plans seek to make more use of Pell grants.

Both plans seek to streamline and make the process easier.

Hillary in addition offers $10K scholarship to anyone who works for a year with AmeriCorps.

4. If the Dems had any real balls on the minimum wage, they would peg it to inflation.
That way, you wouldn't have to wait for a Dem politician to introduce a measure to raise it when it automatically adjusts on its own, but that would mean removing a political football that Dems use to beat on Repubs. My oh my, what would the Dems replace that football with?

16. Hillary has attempted to tie minimum wage to Congressional pay increases

Not as robust as tying it to inflation but its a start.

21. I don't believe it went anywhere. Too much opposition if I recall.
The only bill that passed after the Dems came to power in the current time was one to raise the minimum wage without pegging it to inflation, and looking at how high they raised it, I would say it was woefully inadequate to account for the amount of inflation seen since 1997, the last time it was raised.

9. Hillary will give them $10k for participating in AmeriCorps
College Access

In the 21st century, a college education is more important than ever. Hillary believes it's time for a new bargain with the American people -- a bargain that gives all Americans willing to work hard the tools they need to get ahead. Her plan will make college more affordable and accessible so that every American who has earned it and wants to go has the chance to get a college degree. As president, she will:

* Create a new $3,500 college tax credit.
* Increase the maximum Pell Grant.
* Strengthen community colleges through a $500 million investment.
* Create a graduation fund to increase college graduation rates.
* Increase to $10,000 the college scholarship for those who participate in AmeriCorps full-time for one year.
* Get rid of the red tape in financial aid.
* Hold college costs down and hold colleges accountable for results though an online college cost calculator, a college graduation and employment rate index, and truth in tuition disclosure.
* Challenge selective colleges to expand access for students from low-income communities.

Typical tuition/room and board rates range around 6,000/year at MSU where I attend. I can only imagine how much higher it is in other states.

36. Nothing's free. But I find the current American system of college education taxing for many.
If we look at education systems in Western Europe and Japan, they come out ahead in terms of not accruing debt. The debt load has the side-effect of sapping consumer buying power and disadvantaging the underprivileged and poor.

35. No, the 4k refundable tuition credit is tied to 100 hours per year of community service
And actually there are two plans being floated; the first is the one in the subject; the second is sort of a civilian GI Bill that adds a creditable 4k credit against tuition in return for community service for 2 years.

38. Obama's plan says nothing about the $4K rebate being tied to community service
http://www.barackobama.com/issues/pdf/CollegeAffordabilityFactSheet.pdf

American Opportunity Tax Credit
Barack Obama will make college affordable for all Americans by creating a new American Opportunity Tax
Credit. This universal and fully refundable credit will ensure that the first $4,000 of a college education is
completely free for most Americans, and will cover two-thirds the cost of tuition at the average public college
or university. And by making the tax credit fully refundable, Obama’s credit will help low-income families that
need it the most. Obama will also ensure that the tax credit is available to families at the time of enrollment by
using prior year’s tax data to deliver the credit at the time that tuition is due, rather than a year or more later
when tax returns are filed.

12. Non sequitur
What does the content of your post have to do with the title of your post?

Are you saying Obama is buying support at $4k per head, or are you saying that buying support is proof that he is no cult leader?

If you support Obama, you should not post crap like this.

If it's sarcasm, it's pretty funny.
