Hillary's high negatives versus Obama's low negatives
One of the claims made is Obama is more electable because his negatives are much lower than Hillary's. That is true--for now. Any Democrat will have his negatives become high by November after the rethugs start attacking him. Obama's are low right now because the rethugs have yet to touch him. They have been attacking Hillary since 1992. Her negatives will either stay the same or probably decline given her record in New York. Kerry and Gore both ended with high negatives. People forget that for all the talk about Gore being the savior his negatives are as high or higher than Hillary's. Kerry led Bush in polls in the spring but once the rethugs were through with him he lost by 3 million votes against a thug who presided over a horrible economy. Keep the negatives, crossover appeal, etc. numbers in perspective. An argument can be made that Obama can appeal more to rethugs and rethug type indies but to use negative numbers to "prove" this is bogus and ignores the history of every Democratic nominee in the modern era.

1. Give Obama a little more time. Hillary has been at it since '92

3. I dispute the assertion that Hillary's "negatives" are only products of right-wing smear.
As far as I'm concerned, much of the negatives can be attributed to Hillary and Bill themselves. I can make up my own mind about someone's behavior, attitude, track record, etc. I have my own eyes and my own brain--not all of the bad stuff is manufactured by the media or the RW. Maybe Obama's negatives are low because he just hasn't fucked up that much in life.

6. No, the Clintons often "smeared" themselves--sorry. Neither the
left NOR the right hijacked her voting record in the Senate. That was all her, baby. The RW didn't hire Monica to infiltrate the Oval Office--that was all him, baby.

7. Any Democratic nominee will have high negatives by November
Kerry and Gore are two recent examples, especially the former since he looked great against Bush in polls at this time in 2004...

4. Be that as it may
I actually know family and friends that usually vote puke, that would either vote for Obama, or rally to vote against Hillary. They are none too pleased with McCain, but think that Hillary would be their battle cry. Just an observation, so take it with a grain of salt.
