Skinner, can you ask posters to type in Warning! as the first word
of the subject line when the post is flamebait such as we're getting in droves? Can you ask people to police themselves? Give some examples. There are plenty of examples in the first screen right now. Baiting, pure baiting. No dialogue. Pure examples of hate, mostly targeted at Clinton. I'm not supporting her presently, but it is pretty bad.

Just asking for a warning flag self-assessed out of fairness.

2. Skinner probably threw his hands up at this point
I don't blame him. There is so much trash now on DU: GD: politics forum might as well not try to lock it all.

Probably the mods will come down hard sooner or later and restore order, but for now it is a free-for-all!

3. I think most people don't realize that their flame bait is flame bait. They wouldn't mark it as such
And I also think that in most cases, the thread title itself (or, a combination of thread title and the name of the author) provides more than enough evidence to figure out what is worth reading and what is crap.

6. Can we get the nickname rule back?
Edited on Fri Feb-08-08 02:31 PM by Bleachers7
Remember the Deaniac, Clarkie, rule? Can we get it back for the rest of this cycle? I think it would solve a load of problems.

7. It would also create a lot more problems.
Somewhat off topic, I'm finding it moderately amusing to see how many people remember the 2004 primaries as being somehow better or more positive. I'm especially amused by how many people now seem to think our fascist meddling in their threads in 2004 was a good thing.

I was there, and my memory is that 2004 was pretty bad. And our meddling was particularly unpopular.

8. It was an administrative nightmare
I got 1 24 hour ban. I still have your 2008 primaries post bookmarked. I think this season has been good overall. I think the rules should tighten slightly, but I remember that you said that we will not always be happy.

4. HIDE THREAD - it's right there. Use it.
When you drive down the highway, who covers the billboards you don't want to see?

Don't look at them. It's easy. It takes five seconds. I'm going to do it with this thread as soon as I finish this post.

5. Actually, the warning is implicit when you click on any thread in GD-P.
The level of debate in this forum has fallen out of sight.
