If you live in the US you know how complicated racial identity is and how severe race discrimination has been to anyone who looked Black, regardless of their genetic makeup. Are you seriously trying to make this into some kind of Obama "demeaning women" meme?

But Barack sees his strength in amplifying that he is black. It has been pointed out by others that he does not mention his mother very much. Perhaps he does not admire her to the extent he admires his father.

There is also a cultural reason for it, that any black blood means you are black. I don't know where that came from, probably the South. It's a complicated issue, I don't think he wants to address it.

Whatever the reason for not touting his biracial heritage, you can be certain that it was Axelrod or Gibbs who guided Barack's decision.

You didn't pay any attention to my comment about black blood defining racial identity. I lived in the South for many years, and I noted that the color of the skin determined the heritage which someone claimed. I knew biracial individuals with light skin and green eyes. They said they were white. It strikes me as a sad state of American culture that one claims to be this or that based on the color of their skin and their facial structure.

And if you don't think Axelrod and Gibbs define how he presents himself, you're not paying attention to the backgrounds of those guys.

As I noted, I lived in the South, and I remember how they judged if you were white or black. I remember how biracials were treated depending on the lightness of the color of their skin. I just don't see in press articles that his biracial heritage is noted all that much, for example, being touted as "the biracial candidate."
