1. Mr "I never kept records for the eight years I was in the Illinios Senate" is demanding records?
What an asshole.

12. demanding they disclose them, suggesting they disclose them. We all know what Obama means
There isn't much of a difference between the two words when they're put in the context that Obama has put it into.

4. How? That's rather vague.
In what way do you envision it backfiring on him? Sounds like more wishful thinking.

10. That's the problem with devout groupies. They can never learn to think ahead, but here....
Here's one way it'll backfire on him. Obama is in this inquisitive mode, practically challenging the Clintons that they have something to hide. The more he questions it, the more the Clintons will probably drag this out, leading all the pundits to think they have something to hide. Finally, when curiosity is getting the best of everyone to the point that Obama's groupies are having shit conniptions over it, the Clintons will release a perfectly legitimate return and Obama and Co will have egg all over their faces.

Then it'll be time for the patented Clinton counterpunch and Obama will wish he never got so nosey with the Clintons. You can imagine what the Clintons will come back at him with....questionable land deals, perhaps?

14. The Clintons may well play the release of tax returns in a manner that ends up
benefiting them, but it is a reasonable request, since all candidates should release their tax returns, IMHO.

There is always the chance, even likelihood, that the Clintons will let the suspense build and build and build, then win the public relations battle with a perfectly legitimate return. On the other hand, there is that chance, perhaps small, that there is a reason why they have resisted releasing their return. Either way, a candidate shouldn't be afraid to bring up legitimate issues, even if there is the danger of a counterpunch. Such a candidate would be destined to lose.

17. If there was anything incriminating
in those returns they would have released them long ago to get it out of the way - that's the way the Clinton's work - then they call it old news. They're setting up Obama and he's falling for it.

19. exactly my thoughts
The Clintons are stringing this along, almost as if they're hoping it gets blown all out of proportion, and then they'll release a perfectly acceptable tax return, leaving Obama and his groupies wearing egg. Then look out for the counterpunch.

They're setting up Obama and he's falling for it

they'll go after his Illinois records. Hillary learned this game long ago. She's playing chess while Obama is on checkers.

20. hey, snakeboy
GFY. You know damned well, that the last thing I am is a devout groupie, and that I have defended Clinton against egregious slurs for months. YOU, snakehead, have NEVER done the same. Instead you join in with the sliming.

Your explanation of how this could backfire on Obama is pathetic. Because one thing certain is that the Clinton's return will highlight things like the Burkle business. Not illegal, but possessed of a certain yuck factor that you can be certain the MSM will seize on.

Pathetic. And from someone who actually calls his candidate "The Goddess of Peace". Who's the real groupie cultish adulation filled one? That would be YOU, snakehead.

13. Obama has already released his tax returns. I don't see any reason
for the CLinton's not to release theirs---unless they have something to hide.

Obama was responding to a question about it. I think it was an appropriate response.

15. agreed! BUT wait...Where are Obama's State Senate records..WHO IS BHO???
morning..:hi: every time he brings up what Hillary should do...such as release her records...the questions are really relative to him...It's SO Bush like... here..

Sweet web column: Obama says his state papers "could have been thrown out." Where is the stuff?
JOHNSTON, IA.—White House hopeful Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.)—whose staff has been deflecting questions about the whereabouts of his state senate papers--said Friday he was not certain whether they still exist.

Obama made the comment after I asked him, “Where is the stuff?” VIDEO LINK

The context for pressing Obama on his state papers is this: He is campaigning as a champion of government transparency and slamming chief rival Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) for not pushing the Clinton Library in Arkansas to speed up the release of papers from her tenure as First Lady.

At a press conference, I asked Obama, “Do your state senate papers still exist? If they do, just where are they? And would you ever intend to make them public to be responsive to some requests?

“Nobody has requested specific documents," Obama said.

However, the Chicago Tribune reported it has asked for documents from Obama’s Springfield years and never received a response. The Chicago Sun-Times has also been asking about Obama’s papers. Records from Obama’s office—if he kept them—would potentially show appointments with lobbyists, policy memos, meetings, etc., items the state would not have. Obama has no legal obligation to archive his state papers.

"I was in the state senate for eight years," Obama said. "I had one staff person, that was what was allocated. I don't have archivists in the state senate. I don't have the Barack Obama state senate library available to me, so we had a bunch of file cabinets. I do not have a whole bunch of records from those years. Now, if there are particular documents that you are interested in, then you should let us know.”

I said my question was not about specific records. “When the office was packed up, where is the stuff.?

“You know I’m not certain, Lynn," Obama said. "As I said, I didn’t have the resources to ensure that all this stuff was archived in some way…. it could have been thrown out.”

22. guess what? lynn is a hack for the sun times that has`t been right
on just about any big news story in the last year..a month go she stated that the clinton camp was firing her staff after iowa..opps she did`t.

in illinois a senator from either party--> is not required to keep records! amazing is`t it..the state has no provision to store these records and it would be just about impossible for a senator to house these records for the rest of his/her life.

Try being relevant next time...if it's at all possible for someone of your lesser mental capacities. Hope that helps...
