Words for the week: Obama. Starbucks. Messianic. Cult.
Obama followers are part of a messianic cult that meets at Starbucks, sips lattes, and discusses their love of their cult leader, their Messiah, Lord Obama.

Come to think of it, I'm pretty turned off to Obama myself. I hate people who get together at Starbucks to discuss their latest "Messiah of the Week". Ugh, they're such a cult, those people. So smelly, and strange, and full of themselves.

But I'm pretty sure all these journalists have been using these words independently of each other, and it's not all a part of some Rovian seed-sowing in the public consiousness.

5. Your problem is that you don't understand why people aren't falling for Hillary.
Hillary has 100% name recognition, yet she can't dispose of Obama. How sad for you.

22. It lets me know she can fight and win, though
It lets me know that she knows the enormity of the shark tank she's getting ready to get into, and knows how to beat it.

Obama is totally unprepared for the shitstorm the Republicans will be throwing his way. Beating Alan Keyes isn't exactly significant.

26. What about Applebee's?
Edited on Fri Feb-08-08 03:31 AM by Leopolds Ghost
Enquiring minds want to know.

After all, real Americans eat at Applebee's.

Isn't that what Hillary aides said
criticizing Kerry on the campaign trail in late 2004?

Yes, I distinctly remember a pattern here.

12. I know, did you read that cover piece in Parade last week?
I really got a feel for why God would endorse Obama--and for what tickles God's funny bone. Good piece.

Also, predictably, God was pictured clutching a cup from Starbucks--label out. Kind of explains their success--certainly their omnipresence.

Please explain--I come in peace. 100% friendly question--I don't want to ruffle anybody anymore than making a funny point about the pundits.

20. Jeez, you don't need to threaten. I'm MOCKING the Rovian speech. If you think that perpetuates it,
I can respect that, but don't disagree with me by calling it "hate speech".

I can see how the repetition would help to perpetuate that. I know Rove 101, and I know repetition helps them.

I thought for a moment that by ridiculing what I perceived to be tactics against Obama, that I was helping us to stay on top of the spin. So I thought that my mocking those words outweighed the effect that repeating those words would have.

If you disagree, that's cool--or maybe I didn't indicate strongly enough that I was being sarcastic. Just don't accuse me of hate speech--we can talk.

21. sorry. I'll do this if you improve your humor writing(clumsy attempt)
I'll adjust my post if you try to adjust yours. BUT the tempers and heat are on overload this month after so mush hatred spewing from in my view the Hillary supporters that are often newbies who are here for the short term. This post was a clumsy attempt. its probably just not the time to do this.

23. Well honestly, I hadn't surveyed the site yet to see the other posts on the topic, so I didn't
realize there was already some heat behind this topic.

I also was targeting the media more than the Hillary newbies, but it applies to them, too. Though I wouldn't call out another blogger like I would someone in the media. Perhaps that's where I was misunderstood.

But no, I'm mocking the hate-speech, so I was alarmed when I came off as hate speechy. But otherwise, thanks for explaining for me.
