Deans 50 state strategy and Obama running for President...
Would turn a few traditional red states blue. We could be looking at one of the biggest land slides in recent history.

This is my opinion, anyone agree ?

1. Totally agree. Obama could take the red swing states. Not Hillary, though.

2. Absolutely. If we had a 50 state strategy set up in 2000, Gore would have had a landslide
You can't GET your votes counted if you have no infrastructure in place at every level where the votes are allowed, cast and counted.

The collapsing of party infrastructure in so many states was DELIBERATE, imo. I think some powerful Dems did not want a President Gore or President Kerry.

Either man would have had a landslide for the record books - but the Terry McAuliffe wing of the Dem party refused to secure the election process for Dem voters and Dem candidates.

3. I offered a qualified "YEEEEAAAHHHHH"
It'll probably be close no matter who we nominate. McCain has talent and a national press corps in love with him. On the plus side, he's honest about what he'll do and stand for if elected--and that just won't work well for a Republican this year.

6. If a Dem landslide look for these red states to flip
- Ohio (duh)
- West Virginia (used to be a strong dem state at presidential level)
- Virginia (slowing moving to the left)
- Florida (duh)
- Iowa (duh)
- Missouri (Kerry did awful in 2004)
- New Mexico (duh)
- Nevada (duh)

Long shots to switch this cycle - Arkansas and Colorado

7. No, not in the GE
Edited on Thu Feb-07-08 08:53 PM by OzarkDem
Just because Obama wins a primary in a predominantly GOP state, doesn't mean he will win that state in the GE. According to the polls Obama supporters are quoting, his support among independents is with liberal leaning voters. That won't help in a red state.

That would be a lot of "shapeshifting" Obama would have to do in one election cycle.

9. I miss People-Powered Howard.
He was my guy. Alas, the media's smear campaign did him in. :-(

10. Welcome to DU!
Howard Dean would have won in 2004.

It's sad that a single scream decided one of the most important elections in American history.

12. YEEEEAAAAARRRRGGGGHHHH!
Let Limpballs and Dobson direct their flocks of sheep to stay home and not vote for McCain. We'll get a landslide that will make Reagan spin in his grave from jealousy.
