Breaking news: cult has 10 different definitions

It's interesing how some are pretending that "cult" is a word that simply means "religious group".
These people are either ignorant, or pretend not to know that words have different meanings in the dictionary.
Let's take the word "cult" for example. (Random House Dictionary):

1. a particular system of religious worship, esp. with reference to its rites and ceremonies.
2. an instance of great veneration of a person, ideal, or thing, esp. as manifested by a body of admirers: the physical fitness cult.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize that those who criticize the support for Obama as a "cult" are referring to definition #2. To say that they are referring to some kind of Waco-Texas Davidian cult are being dishonest. The phrase 'cult of personality' has been used to describe this veneration.
