Obama raises $7.2M; Clinton $6.4M since Super Tuesday
-snip-

NEW ORLEANS - Democrat Barack Obama raised $7.2 million and rival Hillary Rodham Clinton collected $6.4 million since Super Tuesday, as he continued to resist a Clinton campaign clamoring for attention-getting debates.

The remarkable outpouring of contributions recorded since Tuesday's contests in 22 states comes on the heels of an eye-popping $32 million raised by Obama in January and the record-shattering $100 million each Obama and Clinton raised in 2007 in their neck-and-neck race for the Democratic presidential nomination.

Obama has been riding a wave of fundraising from large donors and small Internet contributors. While not matching Obama's pace, Clinton also saw an online surge of donations from 35,000 new contributors since midnight Tuesday, Clinton campaign aides said. Campaign Chairman Terry McAuliffe told reporters in a conference call Thursday that these donations totaled $6.4 million.

7. I don't think about the money competition so much.
You know...My candidate raised more than your candidate, etc. I think about how sickening it is that politicians have to raise that kind of money to buy their way into office. He who has the most money wins? What a bunch of crap. I wish American's could come up with that kind of money and it would go to help the hungry and the homeless in our country. Instead it all goes to advertisers and political pimps. What a shame.

11. What dirty trick?
Edited on Thu Feb-07-08 08:19 PM by jackson_dem
Is she going broke or not? If she is then there was no dirty trick. If she isn't then Obamites should stop channeling Romneyites and think money can buy a nomination.

4. So she's still about $14M short of the $32M he raised last month
At this rate she'll match him by....never.

6. So Hillary
has about 2.4 mil (less the interest she charged the campaign for the loan). Sweet.

14. McCain never came close to Romny in funding either
And then there is Huckabee, running a lower budget campaign than even Biden and Dodd, matching Romney in delegates. Hillary, like McCain, will have enough money to get her message out.

26. By asking for money like every other candidate?
Candidates who do well in primaries see surges in fund raising in the next 24 to 48 hours. That is what both candidates are riding the wave of.

17. Yes, let's show our support
BTW, I just got a call from DFA asking for our support for Obama.
We live in Maryland.

Is DFA allowed to support Obama?
I think I will eliminate my membership.

Obama has been very good at Internet fund-raising with Move-on Help.
Now it's our turn. Let's show we care.

I set monthly donation program.
Right now, not much but if they ask, I will increase.
I just want to make sure Clinton won't quit just because they are currently short of fund.

BTW, economy is going to very bad. It will be the worst recession since WWII.
Let's face it. Obama's weakest point is economy. He is a constitution scholar or whatever.
He know nothing about economy.

He can be next Hoover!!

21. Dude
They aren't short of money. They just want you to think so. Has anyone noticed a drop-off in ads? No. What has happened is she noticed that her strategy of focusing on just 17 states isn't working, so she needs more money to go into the other states she has completely ignored up til now. That's ok. A campaign needs to be able to adapt. But what she will find is the folks in those states, who HAVE been courted by Obama and who HAVE been visited by Obama and who HAVE been contacted by the on-the-ground Obama campaign (because the Obama campaign really does give a shit) will not react well to a heart-felt last minute ad blitz.
