If Obama is our nominee, those Repugs with misgivings about McCain may just stay home (if they don't cross over and vote for Obama). If we run HRC, we're sunk because (a) their base gets energized; and (b) independents will move toward "maverick" McCain. Also, consider that we may be keeping both the House and Senate, but perhaps with even larger majorities -- independents won't want to give HRC the WH with a Democratic Congress. They might be willing to give Obama a shot with both ends of Pennsylvania Avenue but not a Clinton; independents will vote to balance this with President McCain (UGH!).
