1. Obama for two reasons...
1) 100 Years in Iraq & Bomb, Bomb Bomb - Bomb Bomb Iran
2) Obama's message is very enveloping, and easier to warm up to. It gives the power back to the people.

3. Well I'm an independent, just the wrong type, none of those candidates appeal to me...
Let's see, we got 2 center-right candidates, that, honestly, are basically clones of each other with little variation between them. And we have another candidate who is even further to the right.

I guess in the GE, I'll vote for the slightly lesser of two evils again. :(

4. The myth of the independent
One thing people don't realize is the independent thing is in name only. People will generally vote one side or the other, but continue to call themselves independents to further their own view of themselves as some maverick American individualist. Americans want to view themselves as individualists and middle class, no matter their actual class standing and voting history.

Actual, true, independents aren't as numerous as the corporates have you to believe. Most are likely to be single issue voters anyways.

5. The only true independents I see are those who don't have a voice in American politics to begin...
with. Our spectrum of political thought in this country is far too narrow, as a result, those who don't fit the "center-right" spectrum that is standard are, more or less, unrepresented by the major Political parties. But, due to our first past the post election system, they are forced to vote for one party or the other, otherwise the vote is "wasted". This seems odd in a supposed "democracy" but its the truth.

I'm an independent not because I'm a "maverick" but because neither political party represents my values or policy positions on economics and social issues. I only vote Democratic to reduce the damage wrought from right wing policies. To be honest, it sucks.
